It's what happened with the Gordie Howe Bridge too.  He made a stink, the we had to pretend he "got something" out of the deal which in practical terms he did not.  Just looks good on paper.  It's like giving a crying 3 year old a piece of tofu, pretending it's candy.

This is a democracy, In no way at no time is it EVER the opposition's responsibility to sugar coat the failures of current leadership. That's a subversion of the whole democratic process.

The Trump people, and by extension Republicans in general, have no interest in the platonic ideals of the democratic process (which I can actually envision them rechristening as “Democrat process” as a way to delegitimize it). Their interest is in ruling. And I don’t mean governing—I mean ruling. They seek to impose their unique moral standards directly onto the way of life of everybody in the world, if they can manage to, but at the very least, upon everyone in this country. That’s what the religion they fetishize commands them to do: convince everyone to revere the icon that is Jesus (as opposed to embracing his actual teachings) as a conduit to express their loyalty and fealty to MAGA ideology. To them, religious freedom means only the freedom to worship as you are commanded, just as secular freedom is only the freedom to work for employers and then buy their products.

So, flowing from this idea, they feel they have the right to assign responsibility that should rightfully be considered their own onto the people they despise, and then try to find a way to punish them for failing to fulfill it. They’re not yet at the point of punishing Democrats for not fulfilling the false responsibility of stopping the Iran War. But they’re pushing toward it.

Holy ****, this actually happened, and it was not even close to being considered a scandal.

My favorite part is at the end where they gutted the rigor of the hiring process and then bragged about how many candidates they hired as a result.

My second favorite part? Best & brightest is in quotes.

Hope you're not flying soon.

Will we ever get to a place again where this type of racism/islamaphobia/xenophobia is no longer normalized from the top office in the country?

One of those 4 people were not born in the US.

To quote Benjamin Rush in a letter to John Adams in 1789

Quote

“We are now in a state of political and moral infancy.”

Maybe now the quote should be

We are no longer merely immature. We have forgotten what we once knew about the responsibilities of self-government.”

So...what is the Fed's role here? Who does a recommendation like this apply to and who is free to ignore it?

I believe the states are free to disregard this insanity
