Notre Dame AD should be fired over this.    Just absolutely foolish.     Losing practices, bowl game experience and money over a temper tantrum.     You had your chance to prove you belong in the playoffs - and you blew it.     Possibly the biggest Cry Baby move of all time.

Oregon over James Madison:  Nice story JMU, you made it to the Ball.

Tulane over Ole Miss:   Sorry, I don't think they'll rally. Kifin screwed them

Texas A&M over Miami:   Texas A&M only had one stumble

Oklahoma over Alabama:

Orange:  Texas Tech over Oregon

Rose  Indiana over Oklahoma

Sugar  Georgia over Tulane

Cotton.   Texas A&M over Ohio State

Peach:  Indiana over Texas Tech

Fiesta:  Georgia over Texas A&M

CHAMPIONSHIP:   Georgia over Indiana.

I do think the Hoosiers are for real, even in a weak Big Ten, but I don't think they could top Georgia.

Birmingham Bowl can’t find an opponent to play Georgia Southern (6-6).

Rutgers, Florida State, Auburn, Baylor, and UCF (all 5-7) have all declined an invitation.

Crazy that bad teams have no interest in playing a meaningless exhibition game in Birmingham, Alabama. Who will agree? Kansas? Mississippi State? Do they start asking Temple, Rice, Akron, and Kent State, or move to P4 4-8 teams?

Just kidding. Temple and Kansas have both declined invites. Still no opponent identified.

notre dame will treat this like theyre making some moral statement about college football.

if you wanted to be in, you should have beaten miami.

They did hold Purdue to 30 points.  Did the committee ignore that?

Are there any Canadian universities that want a crack at it?

byu has a better resume than either of them.

I think they are comparable and that BYU has as much right to complain as Notre Dame.  But they are BYU, so nobody cares.

It’s the committee so they’ll just do whatever they want in the end anyway. A 10-2 Notre Dame will be ranked #13 if they don’t want them in.

They’ll craft the narrative to suit their outcome, just like taking Alabama over Florida State in 2024 despite it defying everything they’d claimed to that point. It’s not the best teams, or the most deserving, or who played quality non-conference opponents, or who shouldn’t be punished for playing in a conference championship, or who shouldn’t be punished for believing they’re better than to be in a conference... It’s just vibes.

D3 football (and other D3 sports) don’t rely on a subjective analysis at all. Their 40-team playoff is entirely based on conference champions and at-large bids determined by the NCAA Power Index, which allows the playing committee to set “dials” of importance preseason, rather than just manufacturing the equation after you know what you want as an answer. So if you want to prioritize scheduling difficult non-conference opponents, or playing in a conference championship, you just increase that “dial.”

Of course the problem with that is that it allows a three-loss Alabama to get bounced for an objectively better team, and of course it takes away the “fun” (and $$$) of a Selection Show where we see what games a random committee of biased and unqualified ADs and fired coaches want to see next. And who would want to take away that?

Virginia Tech hired Brent Pry as their defensive coordinator.  You may remember Brent Pry from former jobs, such as head coach at Virginia Tech the past 3 seasons.

Was a bit of a weird move from ten thousand feet out. Pry and Franklin are close friends going back about 30 years. They worked together at Vanderbilt and Pen State. Franklin worked under Pry's father as well. They've both been strong recruiters in the fertile Hampton Roads market and other regions across the stata.

Tech will never be the powerhouse they'd love to be and rank with the Alabama's and Ohio State's etc

If they can beat UVa and at least JMU and upstart ODU, the alumni will be happt

It’s not as bad as sending a kid onto a scissor lift in a windstorm but skipping a major bowl game over this is a very bad decision from the Irish.   That is quality practice and development time that is wasted.  There are early entry Freshman they won’t get a chance to practice early with the team.
