I have generally repressed the memory of that 2012 World Series. It’s right up there with “The Silence“ from Doctor Who that appear within your peripheral vision and the scary clown who hid in the hallway closet when I was a kid behind the musty old coats my parents hadn’t worn in 20 years.

I also don't remember anything about the 2012 series.  I just remember it as a dud with nothing interesting happening.  I don't think I even got emotional about it.  Not like 2006 or 2009 or 1987.

Or the first part of 2021.

I came across a batch of pictures from that time period.  My seats were about 20 feet to the right of mine now.  They had zip tied seats you weren't supposed to sit in.

I've seen a documentary on it. He was set up. The "victim's" texts to a friend showed she targeted him, discussed his net worth, and even told her friend she would have him choke her. Bauer is a ****, but it sure looks like he got railroaded imho. Maybe after this ruling he will get another shot. He's been pitching on the Mexican league

I don't think what MLB knows and the reason he's "out" is related to this incident though.

Yeah... MLB's investigation very clearly uncovered a lot more. Dickerson's Tiger Talk rant last year hinted that he was let in on some of what was known.

Sure. It can certainly both be true that he was illegally set up, and that he is otherwise a creep. It's easy enough to believe he'd given someone somewhere reason to believe that targeting him might be successful.

I have to go back through my texts but I have a lot of friends in the Cincinnati area and vaguely remember one saying they knew somebody who was abused by him while with the Reds. I could be misremembering though.

Ultimately any grievance he has is for him to sort out.  This isn't a public interest issue.  It's not a government entity falsy accusing or holding him to a standard he may not deserve so it's not really our business.  It's not about "justice".   Is it a crime if an organization says "We don't want that baggage?"  It's a risk they are taking in not making their team better and they weight that against public sentiment.  Teams decided it's not worth it.   That's how life works.

He could sue them.  He hasn't.

Exactly...professional sports are perhaps the ultimate in at will employment

You'd probably have to get all the way to proving collusion, but it's not collusion if everyone is just doing what they were going to (not)do anyway.

And there’s no reason to collude.  This isn’t a mutual benefit. If some team wants that garbage and PR headache… so be it. It doesn’t affect the other teams. It’s not like he’s Ohtani or Skubal or Skenes.

More than just the PR, he's also a locker room cancer. And he's not a CY Young level pitcher anymore, his talent is nowhere near enough to justify the headache.
