Edman85 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 For the "he will re-sign after clearing waivers" crowd, I feel like I need to explain Hartlieb. Because he has been outrighted before, he had the right to declare free agency upon his outright. I don't know the terms of the contract he opted out of, but he was likely on a minimum deal or close to it. Hernandez has the same right (greater than 3 yrs service), but he has a guaranteed 7 figure deal he would be opting out of. If he had 5 years he could refuse that assignment and effectively force his release to get paid. His DFA limbo ends tomorrow. I suspect if he clears waivers, he will accept the assignment. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 Just in general, for the upcoming series with the Phillies, their starting pitchers are total studs by ordinary standards. None of them has missed a start. All of them have pitched a lot of innings by today’s standards, all of them have sub 3.00 ERA’s and all have won 9 games, sticking around long enough - which is a good thing - to actually win and have a lead provided by their hitting. Compared to them —aside from our Cy Young guy — our starters are on again off again guys and recent arrivals with one good game under their belts instead of 23 each in comparison to the Phillies. And Philadelphia is astoundingly good at Home 33–19. Quote

Edman85 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 CBT Calculations, but a few things I don't know. I don't know the cash considerations that came with Morton. I just guessed $2M. Cot's assumes half the remaining, which is a bit more than that. The Astros sent cash with Montero when he was traded to the Braves. I have no idea if that automatically comes with; there was no mention of cash considerations in the trade. All other cash deals are assumed to be $100K. I don't know Geoff Hartlieb's salary, nor Codi Heuer. I assumed league min for Hartlieb, and $800k/$180k split for Heuer since he signed early in the offseason. I am assuming Sewald and Dobnak are bought out. Buyouts count toward current year luxury tax total. Edman85 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Tyler Owens released. Very likely procedural and he'll be re-signed. He's injured, so they couldn't outright him. Quote
chasfh Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I assume we are responsible for paying the bonuses to Paddack and Montero once they reach those benchmarks, regardless that most of the innings came with other teams, correct? Quote

Statistical bonuses are allotted based on % of that stat accumulated with each team. There's a minor bug in my table, but I will address that once Paddack or Montero hit their numbers. Postseason/award bonuses are allotted based on when they happen. The Tigers are on the hook for whatever percentage of the stat came with them. I found out last year, these are paid out at the end of the year, not when triggered, to avoid constant denominator changes. Edited August 2 by Edman85 1 Quote

Sports_Freak Posted August 4 Posted August 4 This was in the Free Press this morning. I would never have guessed 3rd base, I woulda said CF; At third base, the Tigers are betting on Zach McKinstry and Andy Ibáñez, a platoon that has combined for just 12 home runs. It's their weakest offensive position, as Tigers third basemen rank 25th in MLB with a .647 OPS. Quote

He has a .367 OPS against lefties this year so Hinch may not be this-year-active with that... SSS. But still... He did better last year against lefties at .718 so... at some point, Hinch will go back to him for another try methinks... Quote
