papalawrence Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Clark's ops now sits at .730. Little about his minor league career has wowed me. I know he is only 21, and he has impact in many ways. Following his blazing start to 2026 he hasn't shown much. I am predicting that Ranier will have a greater impact with the big club Quote

He doesn't have to be a great hitter to effect the team in a positive way so there's a higher floor. Doesn't have to be a star but I would be surprised if he wasn't a plus player for us as early as next year and at 22 that would be a great result. Quote

Tenacious D Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I think the issue with Clark is that he is being compared to his high school draft class pal, McGonigoggles, which is probably unfair. He’s only 22 playing at AAA. Tools are all still there—will walk a lot, have a lower than average K rate, good baserunner and defender and should hit and perhaps with some pop. When he’s ready and comes up, I think he will create the type of havoc and excitement that Meadows did in late ‘24, when he might have been our best position player. 1 Quote

He is 5 years younger than the average player in the International League. His wRC+ is just shy of league average at 99. He has not faced a pitcher younger than him this year. Just trying to put into context expectations etc. 2 Quote
LongLiveMaroth Posted July 2 Posted July 2 (edited) OK I am absolutely going to caveat this with the fact I have been holding out hope that he could pull it all together and I recognize that he is 25 and old for the level but Peyton Graham is having a season. He has a 6/7 game last night raising his BA to .294 after a slow start in April and May, he hit .324/.458/.500 in June. He also has 44 SB already. There is a new rule in the minors in which the pitcher only gets one throw over and it seems he is taking advantage. He has a BB rate of 15% and a K rate of less than 20. He has increased his LD and FB %'s this season as well while becoming less of a pull hitter. Someone to keep an eye on if they push him to Toledo with Peck. Edited July 2 by LongLiveMaroth Quote
Edman85 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 My only skepticism around Graham is that the org tells you what they think based on the lineup. For a bulk of the year he was only playing 4-5 days a week and near the bottom of the order when he played. He has been more toward the top of the lineup since Callahan and Peck were promoted, though, so maybe they see something. 1 Quote
Edman85 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Pacheco and Moises Rodriguez to the IL last week in Erie. The intern who logged the transactions messed up and dated them April 2, so they aren't showing up in the recent transactions log. Quote
Edman85 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Jake Miller's been on rehab 30 days, which means his time is up. Toledo's starter is still TBD. This makes me go hmmmmmmmm. Quote

Anything else in the immediate future is gravy. Quote

And Rainier has a bigger impact for the Tigers than Clark? Oh, man, speak it into existence, people! 1 Quote

He was quite young when they signed him but he was signed for about 1 million. He is 19 in the FCL so about the average age now but he is sporting over a 1.000 OPS. He is striking out about 1/3 of his at bats which isn't great but he is also walking about 20% of the time. A .275/.395/.637 slash line is pretty nice. I would love to see him get pushed up to Lakeland after the ASB. Quote
