Especially with no off day... definitely - sort of expected a let down. But Skubal was sharp and even though they only scored 2 they hit the ball a lot better than the score - nothing was going to leave the yard tonight though. Somebody must have slipped in a case of soft baseballs. Quote

That seems like a hundred years ago (and it was!) Nowadays Aaron Judge and Kyle Tucker hit second in the order. Quote
lordstanley Posted Saturday at 12:53 AM Posted Saturday at 12:53 AM (edited) Is the 3.0 game division lead the Tigers now have over the Guardians and the Royals the largest the Tigers have had this season? Update: I’ve checked Baseball Reference. It is. They had got it up to 2.5 games a few times Edited Saturday at 12:56 AM by lordstanley Quote

gehringer_2 Posted Saturday at 12:57 AM Posted Saturday at 12:57 AM So if Veirling is rehabbing with the Hens and the Hens are in the middle of a ball game what was he doing in the Tiger dugout? Quote

Speedy CF bats leadoff, scrappy 2b that can "handle the bat" bats 2nd and the slugging 1B/DH/RF occupy the middle of the order. Bottom of the order is light hitting SS and Catcher that calls a good game. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted Saturday at 01:00 AM Posted Saturday at 01:00 AM It was like pulling teeth without anesthetic to get MLB to see the value in getting the most at bats possible for your best hitters. Quote

I don’t remember being this bad last year I think with this new TV deal they just have less money to play with and they do it on the cheap. Quote

I remember the days where the leadoff guy was someone who would hit .280-.320 with absolutely zero power and never walked but could steal 50 bases and for some reason was a terrible center fielder defensively. Looking at you Alex Sanchez and Roger Cedeno…. Quote

Look at the stats of our middle infielders from 1968. A world championship team. The game has changed so much in my lifetime....mostly in pitching though. It was unheard of to pull a pitcher after a number of pitches... Quote
chasfh Posted Saturday at 01:10 AM Posted Saturday at 01:10 AM This is not at all a comment on Tarik Skubal or anyone else’s private views at all, but—I really hate this haircut which is inexplicably popular right now. Quote
