IdahoBert Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I’m sure fans of the Red Sox — and there are many great and astute fans of this team and others teams, let’s be fair — thought “wait until the Tigers play a real team and see what happens,” and we did. It is consummately fair to say that this is not a fluke. Quote

ben9753 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Seems like I’ve heard “the Tigers go for the sweep” a lot already this year Quote
romad1 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago tomorrow is NOT a day game? That's on Boston for not wanting a get-away afternoon game? Quote

papalawrence Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Somebody put the walk-off to moneyball. I love the catcher's reaction https://www.facebook.com/share/r/15zyVAzvhx/?mibextid=xfxF2i Quote

I love the catcher's reaction https://www.facebook.com/share/r/15zyVAzvhx/?mibextid=xfxF2i That look on the catcher’s face of “you’re kidding me… again?“ was a priceless unmediated human response. We Tigers fans have been on the receiving end of that sharp stick poked in our own eye often enough that there is some gratification in it happening to others although I’m not exactly proud to feel this way but hey they’re competitors they’re grown-ups and the highs and the lows are a part of the game Quote
IdahoBert Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Rightly or wrongly, and in fact, probably wrongly because we “bought Javy” it feels like daddy didn’t buy this team for us and that the team earned it. There’s a lot about this club that feels earned and not bought or given, even though it’s a corporate-owned entity that functions according to the tempos and the pulse rates of an impersonal economic machine. In the end, however, it feels miraculously personal and achieved through heavy lifting mediated by a lot of thinking and planning which has worked. What this club is doing is, I think, one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve ever had as a fan and it is exceeding all my expectations. Javy has been more or less endured than enjoyed in Detroit and witnessing this payoff now is amazing. Quote

Virginia weather is really bad this week. I've seen a couple mentions that this one might be at risk because of storms. How does that look? Wet driveways? Smelt running? Quote

When I went to Tigers fantasy camp in 2007 and I was having joint pain in my thumb while swinging a bat, they gave me a thumb guard to use, which felt so weird that I just said **** it and dealt with the pain. Players in general prefer night games over day games because (a) it’s cooler at night and the sun’s not there to get in their way; and (b) most games are already night games so more night games keeps them on a more predictable schedule for their bodies. But, it appears Tigers marketing likes a day game mid-week though for capturing the business walk up market. Quote
