chasfh Posted May 23 Posted May 23 As an Xmas gift, my wife arranged for a bunch of my family, some of her family, and my best buddy who lives in Boston to all get together for tomorrow night’s game, with my buddy, my wife, and I down on the field for Tigers’ batting practice. Seventeen family and friends will attend. She chose tomorrow’s game because it’s the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, and it’s the Guardians. Very, very thoughtful of her. She’s really good at getting me experience gifts. She’s just the best all around. As for the weather … meh. It can go either way this time of year. If we’re gonna live here, we’re gonna have to accept that. It could just as well have been 90. Ah well, that’s OK. We’re still gonna have a swell time. Can’t wait! 3 Quote

She's a keeper. 1 Quote

Have a great time and I hope the Tigers put on a good show for you. A walkoff win? Or an easy blowout? Take your pick. 😆 Quote
kdog Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Vierling should be ready to go...not sure on Gleyber yet but they have options for him heading to the IL. Quote

Today is Friday so are you going Friday or Saturday? I've done the batting practice thing twice. It's fun. They'll give you the lecture on not to address the players or try to get their attention. Just stand and take pictures and all that. Let them work. It's not a junket. At some point you'll find them coming over to sign things or take pictures if they feel like it. If you are into that have something ready for them to sign. I had to quickly borrow a sharpie and I had Miggy sign my lanyard but we're supposed to give those back when you leave as they give you access to the field, luckily the guy let me keep mine. What was fun for me is watching the stats on the board as they hit showing the velocity and launch angle to try to predict what would be a HR. And just overall watching their process to prepare. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 23 Posted May 23 So what I just read from Beck on MLB is that Vierling will be available by Sunday. Quote

IdahoBert Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Each team will be facing tonight a pitcher of whom it can be said “the batters have never seen his stuff.” Torres has had one at bat against the Cleveland starter, but Gleyber is definitely not in the lineup. Cleveland could have a leg up on Jobe because he’s already had an extensive record to follow this season even though Guardians haven’t faced him themselves. And maybe Tigers scouts know something about the Cleveland hurler from his time with the Diamondbacks or how he faced other teams last year for the Guardians but at point of direct experience this year, they don’t know a lot about him firsthand. IdahoBert Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Vierling is now on the 26 man roster which I checked on seconds ago. And there are 14 position players instead of 13 now. No new pitcher has been added to the roster Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I was also expecting bad news about Torres because apparently I’m thin-skinned and looking for reasons to be disappointed. Glad that he’s OK. Quote
roarintiger1 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) That's a black hole in leftfield tonight with a lifetime .226 hitter there instead of Riley. Meadows, Vierling, and Perez can't get back here soon enough. Prove me wrong Akil. .226 is generous. The last three years .143, .137, & .218 Edited May 23 by roarintiger1 Quote
RandyMarsh Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Good news, Nido cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Toledo. Thought we were for sure gonna lose him. 2 Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I think I would rather place a bet with Christopher Moltisanti than with FanDuel. I’d trust him more. Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Why rebrand the Erie Seawolves? It’s a good name/logo design/color scheme Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Rename them Erie Indianas with Omri Katz as the logo Quote
CMU97 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Doesnt it have to be the Oneders (wonders)? That would be great, for a weekend. Quote
