there's also a universe where we have two hall of fame starters in their prime and get swept by the giants.  😞

Dang it! I had that memory 97% repressed......and now I'm back to 0%!!

And it brings back big papi's slam and bird steals the ball.

there's a universe where the Tigers get Skenes, make the playoffs the next 5 years, winning 4 pennants and 3 World Series.

There’s also a universe where the Tigers have won 124 straight world series’ and Brandon Dixon was the WS MVP in one of them.

one thing is for sure, there's no way i'm giving up two top ten prospects for a star player.  can you imagine giving up miller AND maybin?  no way.

But the trade proposed 2 top 10, plus Jobe and other pieces. This trade would greatly Trump what Det gave up for Miggy and Dontelle

If Maybin hadn't suffered so many injuries, that trade might look a little less lopsided. Be that as it may, if you look at a trade today - it's the pitcher who is much less likely to be able to stay on the field, so even though the Marlins had bad luck with Maybin's health, today the odds are the team getting the pitcher is more at risk.

It also depends on the contract. Can't give up too much for a rental.

It should.  Cabrera was very close to free agency when the deal was made, so that's not a good comp.  Skenes has four more years.  His trade value may be unprecedented.  I don't see how you can get him without trading two top prospects and then some.

I think one player/RP the Tigers could look into, as could many other teams, is David Robertson. He was pretty good last year, has a history on winning teams and would NOT cost any prospect capital.

My memory of April 2008 was that I thought the Marlins had traded us two problem alcoholics for all our best prospects.

When game 163 came around in 2009, Miggy was having some sort of problem prior to that game that he had to apologize for.  So, while a great player...he was a tinderbox that maybe the Marlins thought he needed to be sent out of Miami.  Dontrelle also was dealing with things and ultimately he could not return to his previous effectiveness.

I know it’s not a desperate need, but I’d offer Cleveland 3 of Keith and our top 5 plus Any pitching prospect not named Melton (I think he’ll be needed this year) for Ramirez.

I wouldn’t do that for Skenes or anyone else, but he’d be well worth it IMO.

Ramirez has 5/10 so he could veto any trade. He took much less money to stay in Cleveland so I don't see him leaving. But I agree, I'd love to have him in Detroit

the marlins traded miggy because they couldnt afford him.

you would probably be surprised at how many of those guys are functional alcoholics.  at least they used to be.  a friend of mine used to own a bar in royal oak and had all sorts of stories about miggy, maggs, all those guys and their alcohol use/abuse and the women that were all over them.

its good to be a multi-millionaire athletic freak.  lol.

Yes, it's doubtful he would.  It's also doubtful Cleveland would do it.

my friend was hit on by a drunk member of the Tigers around 2011-2012 in Royal Oak.

She filmed him.  I saw it.   She didn't know who it was so that's why I saw it.

He's still "around" so to speak but I believe he's not like that anymore.

the stories of a lot of the 84 tigers are....interesting.

I was at the hotel the team was staying at one year.  One prominent pitcher from that squad was hitting on women all over the place.  Others were likely more discrete.

I had some direct testimony on that from an Air Force colleague who waited tables in Lakeland during the 80’s.

I think it was a known issue with both players.  When i say known issue it means it’s a problem.

Nothing worse for a bad relationship than having more time to spend together!

That is/was a thing for MLB players.  I remember an article in SI back when they were legitimate.  You spend 10-20 years married but never see each other for half the year.  Then you retire and find out "We don't really like each other...." or at least "I don't like this life...."
