Probably DFA’ed Manning because the Twins, Braves, and Guardians wouldn’t take him even as a throw in.

I also have wondered for some time whether Manning is simply a drag to coach and/or to just be around.

I disagree. You can absolutely navigate the playoffs rotation wise as currently constructed. Three solid starters is more than enough. Of the priorities, I consider a starter well behind elite BP and impact bat.

Padres are looking for a Catcher. Could they pry Adley Rutschman from Baltimore? I could see them doing a Cease for Rutschman type deal and some prospects. Adley's underlying numbers show that he's do to be a monster the 2nd half of the year. Just extreme bad luck this year is producing his poor numbers......  Although I guess Joey Bart is also out there.... Will be interesting for them as I don't know too many teams that need a Catcher at the moment.

WAR is not a good comparative to use for Miller since as a reliever he is deployed only opportunistically and strategically.

Why would they trade those guys?  They aren't going through a rebuild. They have many good players. They should be right in the thick of the playoff race.  They should be trying to add a few pieces for next season

It's always a can't miss prospect and 3 other amazing guys traded for a mlber.  Usually ends up as 3 guys who did nothing in the majors and an average dude.

Remember how the Marlins fleeced us in the Cabrera trade?

Don't really know if they are at fault, but their pitching staff has been hit hard with injuries.

If he's due for a monster rebound, why would they trade him?  Do only fans on a message board have access to this info?

They aren't trading Rutschman.

How does a medical staff make guys not have injuries?  They aren't wizards.  Guys blow their elbows and shoulders out all the time and there is nothing you can do about it.

They aren't trading Rutschman.

I think he's been on the market. They also have Basallo waiting in the wings and just drafted two catchers with their first two picks. One  of those draft picks was a College Senior who should be ready next year. If they can get something good for him, I think he could be moved. They have a lot of depth and he still has value.

This is where the science of whatever the science is called it is were they track athlete performance (kinesthetics?) meets medicine.  You need people who know how much stress is being inflicted on the athletes body and how to manage that.  Supposedly the Tigers are decent at this but the injury bug has been kicking our ass too.

It wasn't a serious post.  Just a comment about how it's hard to manage a team when everytbody is hurt.

I’m not saying they fire sale but why aren’t they shopping Ozuna or Iglesias.  Neither are going to be back next year.  

Ozzie Albies struggles this year brings his future into question even as Atlanta has affordable team options the next 2 years on his deal.  

Drake Baldwin looks like their catcher of the future and that makes Sean Murphy expendable.
