I remember as a kid watching the Reggie Brown game and feeling so awful about it as a kid. This situation with Morice Norris has me reflecting on that. Thoughts go out to Morice Norris and I hope he makes a full and healthy recovery.

I've never seen this before. Atlanta is running out the clock. There is 14 minutes left.

That is really something. 22 players all on the same page there.

Watching the replay, his head really snapped back.  Hopefully he just got knocked cold and they're taking extra precautions due to it being a head/neck impact.

Good on those players. They took a stand and it still took NFL leadership eight minutes to make the call.

Bet you they now send a memo to NFL referees that tells them not to allow players to decide to do that in a regular season game. Will tell them to stop the clock after 20 seconds and go to official review for an NFL decision.

The thing with Norris is that his head snapped back when his facemask hit the leg of the RB.  That's actually a good thing in this kind of scenario.   If it had been the top of his head that hit like that, it would be a much scarier situation.    You are supposed to tackle with your face facing the target and not the top of your head.   If you look at just about every serious spinal injury in football, you will see that these guys were leading with the top of their head, with the crown of their head.  That compresses the spine directly down upon itself and that energy has no where to go, so you end up with broken necks and spinal injuries.    His head snapping back from a facing position, the energy disperses.   Now, it's a serious concussion, no doubt about that and he might not play again, but I think he will.

I took a lot of heat online when I suggested on another board that Ryan Shazier's injury was his own fault because he did the one thing they tell these guys not to do  - lead with the crown of your head.    Not that I don't sympathize with Shazier and his career ending, but it was 100% his fault.  These coaches tell these guys over and over and over not to do this.  Your target gets broken ribs and you could end up in a chair

Mike Utley fell in an awkward way onto the top of his head.    Reggie Brown was engaging in a tackle when someone fell into him in that position, he wasn't targeting a guy like that.

I don’t even care it was in the preseason. That’s incredible.

If he makes the team (he probably will) it will make DCs think a lot, won't it?    So it may not have counted today, but it's in the back of everyone's mind.   Knew this would eventually happen.

Oh, and he slipped a little, too

Barring playing with a major advantage like in altitude or wind behind you I don't think its gonna be possible to break that. I seem to recall Mark Rober doing a video a few yrs back after the Tucker kick and from what I can remember 70 was the absolute most you could get cause anything longer the trajectory needed would  surely get blocked at the line.

The injury bug starting again. Hopefully this is nothing serious and Hassanein is back on the field in no time. Apparently he told the press "I'm good" after practice today. So let's hope he really is good and he's back out there this week.
