kdog Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM Trey Sweeney has been called up....likely because Wenceel needs to be placed on the IL. Quote
lordstanley Posted Sunday at 02:56 PM Posted Sunday at 02:56 PM I believe the Tigers have lost 6 of their past 7 series. Really need a win today. Quote
Tiger337 Posted Sunday at 03:21 PM Posted Sunday at 03:21 PM Sweeney looked so promising back in April...Now, adding him to the roster gives me the same feeling as adding Kreidler. 1 Quote
kdog Posted Sunday at 03:31 PM Posted Sunday at 03:31 PM Curveball..Vierling placed on the IL with an oblique injury. Quote

gehringer_2 Posted Sunday at 03:48 PM Posted Sunday at 03:48 PM This is what happens in a game where pitchers are so overtaxed that high percentages of them can't get through a season anymore. We've lost Jobe, Olson, Foley, Cobb has been a no show, haven't gotten anything from SGL, Manning never came back from the foot injuries - the only way you can win is if you can make it through the season with a lower than average pitching injury incidence, and this year it has pretty much gone south for the Tigers despite the appearance of pitching depth that existed before the season started. tiger2022 Posted Sunday at 03:58 PM Posted Sunday at 03:58 PM If the Tigers can't score against this guy, they never will. 1.63 WHIP in 104 IP. Quote

There were arms available at the deadline without giving up our top prospects. But it appears that we see a weakness in Harris. His inability to make significant trades. Quote

If the Tigers had access to both Kelly and Bednar without giving up top 100 prospects, then it’s a shame it didn’t get done. But who knows what the actual discussions were. 2 1 Quote

But who knows what the actual discussions were. All we know is the Tigers were unable to acquire any of the top arms that were available. Or Suarez. And Harris' words don't really make sense. He said the position players that got us to the playoffs last year deserved playing time this season. But the Tigers also replaced almost their entire bullpen from last season. So I guess our pitchers who helped us into last years playoffs didn't deserve playing time this season? I'm sorry but I see it different. He won't say it but he's afraid to trade any "prospects" for two reasons. One...because they just may turn into quality players someday. And two...he needs to use these prospects when he lets established Tiger players walk once they become too expensive. Yeah, I'm cynical. Quote

The only way a mid-market team avoids the 10yr trips to the wilderness on a boom/bust cycle is to keep the pipeline full. That's just the reality of the CBA. I don't like it but it's the only way teams can be successful these days. On the other hand, trading our mid prospects to help the team this season wouldn't hinder our 2027 and beyond roster. Harris isn't strong at making trades, either teams don't like dealing with him or he puts way too much value on our AA players. And we all know most prospects never make it. So having 4 catching prospects is pointless while the big league team is starved for pitching right now. Its like we went from DD who traded anyone with a pulse to help the major league roster to Harris, who hoards prospects. But he DID say that there's guys who will help us this season. I sure hope they can pitch...😅😅 Quote

IdahoBert Posted Sunday at 05:54 PM Posted Sunday at 05:54 PM No Matty is not that big a deal because we haven’t really had him much, although we need a live body out there, but losing Perez is a big deal. Quote
