I was in school that day. But I went to the fifth game in Detroit, which made up for every deficit in my life.

I was at #3. Price made the last out. I never forgave him.

At my funeral instead of a montage of pictures on a screen set to some sad music,  I just want a loop of tonight's 7th inning to play

My son is going to play the alphorn at my funeral, at the bottom of sleeping bear dunes.

I'm going to have a closed casket and the organist is going to play "Pop! Goes the Weasel."

Maybe this club is starting to gel again. Although I didn’t follow this game too closely, it sanded off a lot of the rough edges of this latter portion of the schedule for me.

The Tigers took advantage of the unpredictable serendipities of this game with relish and felt like the club they were earlier in the year.

Paddack was superb. He rose to the occasion. Casey was great. Finnegan will return. All good things to those who wait. The magic carpet is ascending.

I have an agreement with 7 big Italian dudes who will wear nice suits and pinkie rings to show up at my funeral.  I also gave them envelopes of cash to give to my wife and kids with instructions to say "this was his take this week... we never got a chance to kick it up to him.  He was a good boss."

Just for the fun of it I compiled some numbers from the 7th innning:

Hits: 5
Walks 4
HBP: 1
Outs: 3
Ks: 0

56 pitches where thrown by the Yankees, of them the Tigers swung on 19 of them... About a 1/3 swing rate... but honestly that was only because Hill (the third guy in) started throwing strikes.

Before Hill came in 36 pitches were throw with 9 plate appearances. The Tigers swung 7 times. Less than 20% of the pitches offered by the first two pitchers were swung at.

Hill accounted for 1 hit, 1 walk and all three outs. That means that the entire Tigers team came to the plate before a single out was recorded. Cruz and Leiter both had infinite ERAs in that outing.

And the most astounding fact about that whole inning is that Hill is only 35.    Dude looks like he's 65.

I’m so glad I opted out of watching last night’s game after the 3rd inning.  When I heard about the 7th inning massacre the next morning, I had to laugh.  how else could I react?
I’ve watched the Yanks enough this season to see that they still haven’t quite learned to produce runs other than w/home runs.

And again, I made the right decision by bailing after two or three innings.

You’ll at least root for us after the Yankees get eliminated and the Tigers keep going on, right? 😉
