I mean come on... it's 2025 with a gajillion streaming options. MLB does team specific crews for 162 games x 30 teams (almost... there are some national games of course). Why can't we have a local crew for just 17 games? That would mean the NFL and the teams would have to give up $$ to do so. The league split over $433 from the past season. Assigning each team their own crew would mean two separate TV crews at each game. It works on radio because the teams can sell the radio broadcast rights (and keep the profits) but with revenue sharing TV rights are split among the teams (as I understand it). Basically assigning local TV Crews for each team would kill the Golden Goose. Quote

I remember a handful of mis-pronounced or wrong names said. And I remember the color guy saying after the 4th down stop: "This is as good as a turnover!" Yeah... because that's what it is! It's a turnover on downs. It’s not a turnover though. Quote

Or a local crew for the Metro Detroit area, a visiting teams local crew and then a national crew for the rest of the country? I'd say a home and away crew. I'd give the home feed to anyone not in the away team's immediate area, but for that matter do all three if there's demand for it. I think it wouldn't be too hard to figure out a way to allow people to pick their feed too. Quote

But I also think it would be well within the NFL's budget to handle it. If they can do it for MLB they can do it for NFL. It helps now that the Lions are better. But I'm sure we all clearly remember the years when the Lions were the red-headed step-child that no one cared about and we'd get the same cliched stories (did you know that Stafford and Kershaw were on the same team in highschool?!?!?), wrong names, and bad information from the announcers, etc. I don't want the announcers to be complete homers, but I also wouldn't mind a Detroit focused announcer team who'll at least have accurate information about the players I care about and won't repeat the sale old tired crap all the time. I think it wouldn't be too hard to figure out a way to allow people to pick their feed too. All the sports take away playoff games from local broadcasts and sell it in a national package. And the networks, and ESPN, pay billions of dollars for the rights to braloadcast football. I think they should sync the local radio feed with the network video. That would basically be the same thing as having a local broadcast. The radio guys have to describe the action better since there's no video to show people. That means much less moronic banter like the major networks offer. They really don't prepare for their job, calling BB...Dion Branch? One of the best safeties in football and his "partner" didn't even correct him? Yeah, a terrible broadcast. Quote
RedRamage Posted Monday at 06:54 PM Posted Monday at 06:54 PM One more thing I forgot to mention from yesterdays game: I did NOT like St. Brown's TD celebration. I'm sorry if all you young whippersnappers thought it was funny or cute or whatever. But let me tell you straight up: It was NOT funny. It was NOT cute. I mean crap man... my heart can't take stuff like that! For the love of all us older guys who are in horrible shape are just one greasy hamburger away from the heart attack... do NOT do something like that again! 1 1 Quote

I mean, I'd rather a full TV crew so that replays would sync and all that, but if the only option would radio synced up I'd be okay with it. And yes I know that technically I could just play radio audio while watching TV, but it's not quite the same and means I'd be stuck with going back to watching live instead of being able to do it on tape delay and fast forwarding through commercials. 1 Quote

I watch baseball with the At Bat TV app. They broadcast both teams announcers. There are a few teams that have neutral type announcers that make it hard to tell which team they're from. Those are usually the best announcers, more professional. And they never get names incorrect. Quote

RandyMarsh Posted Monday at 07:52 PM Posted Monday at 07:52 PM Last 10 home games the Lions are averaging over 36 points per game, in their last 16 games as a whole they've scored 40+ 7 times and 50+ 3 times. Quote

Getting a "first down" isn't only the first time you get over 10 yards. It's not tracked on the team stats at all. They now separate it out as interception and fumble. There is nothing else. It's the same outcome as a missed field goal. That's not a turnover either. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turnover_(gridiron_football)#:~:text=National Football League game statistics, having "no turnovers"). Discussions about it. They probably had Ben Johnson in their ears all week talking about not giving up explosive plays. But when you have three all-world athletes in Jamo, ASB, and Gibbs, all capable of having an explosive play and all on the field pretty much every play, that’s easier said than done. Especially when you also now have TeSlaa nipping at their heels to be the 4th man in that category. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted Tuesday at 01:46 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 01:46 PM Speaking of TeSlaa, when Arkansas fires their head coach, will he be mentioned as a reason? Holmes can watch him workout in shorts and say “you were misused in college.” Not a great sign for the coaching staff that misused him. 1 Quote
