I usually don't care about the Yankees, but this guy's just ripping them off at this point.  

I remember when mlb suspended Arod for his first failed PED test for 211 games even though the rule was 50 games for the first violation. The only reason it was 211 games was to save the Yankees a bunch of money.

What an absolute failure by Team USA leadership thinking they had already clinched a spot in the next round when in reality they hadn’t.  

If Mexico beats Italy and scores less than 5 runs while doing it, USA goes home.

DeRosa’s real job is media talking head so he knew he had to come out and deny this was the case.  He said that he “misspoke” earlier in the day.

Leaving 5 players out of his original lineup including Cal Raleigh, Bryce Harper, Alex Bregman and Bryce Turang in a very big game suggests otherwise.

In the WBC can you just play for whatever country will take you?  Obviously, you don't have to be born in the country you play for.

I think you have to have some sort of lineage to that country to play for it.

If they didn't leave it open to US players with foreign ties they wouldn't get enough MLB players on the other teams to make it interesting. It would be the US, The Dominican, Mexico and a bunch of single A teams.

Are there good numbers from VZ in the majors? Obviously we know the Tigers have had a few, but I guess I got the impression from the way that was covered here that that was some kind of exception. Admittedly not something I've spent time auditing.

The Tigers exception was that they had 2 of the biggest stars at the time.  Compared to non Dominican/Puerto Rican(if you count it as “foreign “I’d be shocked if they don’t have the next most foreign players in the the majors (and especially if you include the minors)

According to this, they are right behind the Dominican with 94 and almost triple Cuba who is 4th (US is 1)
