romad1 Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 I think if someone wants to politicize the US world cup, one must investigate if anyone on the US team bet on their own team to lose. Its fairly common these days. Did anyone in the Youngstown mafia have a lot of money riding on Turkey? Quote

CMRivdogs Posted June 28 Posted June 28 A bit of a random thought, but has some political bias. My wife and I attended the local theatre company's production of 1776 this afternoon. The musical which premiered in 1969 focuses on the political struggles of the Second Continental Congress and the events leading up to the eventual signing of the Declaration of Independence . To be honest maybe things haven't changed that much in 250 years. A couple things caught my eye. While most all the representatives at the Congress were considered the political leaders of their individual colonies, the vast majority would be considered Oligarchs in today's society. If you were a Loyalist, you probably considered yourself a conservative. Probably unwilling to give up your land or wealth for a war against a king you are still loyal to. The radicals were Adams (both Samuel and John) Franklin, Richard Henry Lee, Jefferson. In the play the Conservatives sang about the "Cool, Considerate Men". The more things change..... One of the things that stood out to me about this production was the casting of Edward Rutledge of South Carolina. Rutledge was a fierce defender of slavery and considered himself part of the faction opposed to breaking away from England. In the production we saw today Rutledge was portrayed by an African American. The actor had a great bass voice and sang the most powerful version of "Molasses to Rum". The song points out the hypocrisy at the time of those delegates who opposed slavery. Pointing out that Northern ships set sail from Boston or Rhode Island loaded with rum to buy slaves, trade those slaves to the South and bring southern molasses back to the North to bring more rum. The song sung by a black man made it even more powerful. (From the movie) Quote
CMRivdogs Posted June 29 Posted June 29 I think they are all in Colonial Williamsburg, or more likely Busch Gardens...It's been a busy weekend with record crowds expected on the Fourth Throw in the heat. No one really wants to be outside Quote

It's AC that's ruined the Founders Intentions. 1 Quote

I’m not sure what this proves? They either applied for a grant for a publicity stunt or hoping it would go unnoticed. Quote

Who knows?- could be vice versa, and JF is sending checks where they know they may rejected looking for click bait fodder. Or both were spoofed by a third party. Just another of the million post/counter post arguments going on in the click-o-sphere. It always bears repeating that seeking truth on social media is generally a waste of time and accepting anything posted at face value generally a mistake. Edited June 29 by gehringer_2 Quote
chasfh Posted June 29 Posted June 29 I don't know either way—the basis of Heretic's criticism seems defensible on its face—but it just annoys me to see what appears to be a mischaracterization of convenience, or an accusation that appears to be out of context. If these two guys are super confident in their accusations, then instead of truncating the Heretic Coffee post, show the whole thing and characterize it as properly as ridiculous, horrifying, antizionist, whatever. And the facts are out there. Either JF has a grant application duly signed by someone at Heretic or they don't. So going to social media without the demonstrable evidence is just agitating the algorithms. Edited June 29 by gehringer_2 Quote

CMRivdogs Posted June 30 Posted June 30 https://www.kuow.org/stories/transgender-ballot-initiative-could-require-genital-exams-for-wa-secondary-school-students Quote Student athletes in Washington state schools who want to compete in girls' sports would likely have to obtain genital exams to participate, if a controversial ballot initiative passes in November. The initiative would ensure that “students compete in athletic activities consistent with the gender assigned at birth,” echoing restrictions in 27 other states and effectively blocking transgender girls from joining girls’ middle- and high-school teams. Language in the initiative claims that kids are already required to undergo verification of their “biological sex” before they can play sports. But KUOW spoke with medical professionals and a school sports official who said otherwise. Paperwork used by medical professionals in sports physicals also shows that the initiative would be a departure from current state requirements for athletic participation. According to the initiative, students would have several options to confirm their sex: a visual genital exam, a lab test to determine their genetic makeup, or an analysis of testosterone levels in the blood. The genital exam, which a medical professional can conduct without touching the child, would likely be the most accessible option for most kids. Quote
