i totally bought Sparky's nonsense regarding Pittaro. i don't think the outcome would have been different, but huge disservice to the kid to hype him so much.

and if they don't trade Howard Johnson, who knows how the 80s would have played out!

Chris Pittaro’s big moment, narrated by Eli Zaret, at the 2m 50s mark.

Great memories.....my brother and I were at that game. We froze our tails off, even though we were "well lubricated." 😁

The final four is in Indy, the game against Purdue is in San Jose.

Well, I’m just stepping on my own toes here. I could’ve sworn that I read somewhere that it was going to be in Indianapolis. Well that makes it less of a “home crowd” for Purdue.

He almost learned a hard lesson on his 2nd double, coming very close to being thrown out. Hey kid, that's not a AA rightfielder, thats an MLB All Star....😆😆

That’s the running chaos that the Tigers embrace.

I have Sirius XM. Easy as it gets.

And Sirius XM was only 1 pitch behind my TV today. So I’m fine using it going forward for when I’m audio only. If it was a full at bat behind I’d feel out of sync with the world.

Here is a deeper dive into McGonigle’s at bats.

I bought everything he said at the time.  I think I fnally figured out it was BS when he said the same stuff about Lovullo.

Wow, Julio Franco was in the Highlights.  Has he retired yet?

Does anyone in their lifetime as an MLB fan remember a better debut than what McGonigle had today?

Last night Chase Deleuter went 3-5 with 2 HRs.

Strasburg struck out 14 in his debut.

Trevor Story hit 2 HRs in his debut.

It's a pretty short list.

Deleuter is interesting though, was that truly his debut as he had 22 at bats in the postseason last year.

Man, that groovy music anchored by the flute sounded old even by 1985 standards.

Purdue has traveled pretty well to the west coast lately. Should have a decent crowd there tonight. I know we have overwhelmed USC, Washington, the San Diego MTE last year. It's a pretty national alumni base.

And I love the aggressiveness. People look at the stolen base stats and decide the Tigers aren't a good base running team, with no speed. Totally wrong, we were among the leaders in all of baseball going 1st to 3rd last season. Taking that extra base will help win a lot of games. Just live with occasionally being thrown out. .

I just saw this on that network. And today's Free Press was all over KMac's debut. This kid has a quick compact swing that is going to play very well for years...

The eyeglasses, the hair, some of the jackets.

it was amusing to see footage of the snowflakes.  Anymore it seems like anytime a game encounters that, it never happened in the past.

Oh, and the low maintenance of the playing field.  No special patterns mowed into the lawn.

Please, no KMac.  That’s cheap and plasticy.
