I guess talent is no defense against playing stupid. He and Tork can now both share the distinction of taking a called third in maybe less than week with a man on second in a walk off situation. gehringer_2 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago If there has been a more inept team in the league in the last 10 years I'd be surprised. Quote
kdog Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago In theory, a low talent offensive team could win on the margins. This team is pathetic and they lose every edge on the margins. Time to start throwing guys overboard just to change the vibes. 1 Quote

Yet they make no moves with the offense. They just keep rolling the same thing out there. Maybe who they could call up wouldn't be any better, but they sure couldn't be any worse, could they? Stanford Boy had Jones batting third yesterday and Short starting in the same lineup. That's a White Flag lineup there. That's surrender. I really don't think Malgeri, Max Anderson, Jace Jung and Corey Julks could not be worse than Perez, Short and Torkelson right now. Might as well throw Vierling in that group too. This was his chance to prove something. He has failed. They've all failed. Quote

Uhhh...I would say we lost that game because our BP couldn't hold a late lead. Riley did take strike 3 but it should never have gotten to the bottom of the 9th. And in extras, Hinch already used his top 3 relievers in a failed bid to hold a lead so he had to bring in an ineffective Holton. Ballgame Quote
Dan Gilmore Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago McKinstry getting picked off with two on, no outs. That was a fail of huge import. 1 Quote

Swing the damn bat and defend the plate when you are down 2 strikes and there is a man on 2nd. That kind of thing isn't a so much even a matter of talent - it's lack of game IQ. Quote

Ballgame you could, and the BP has certainly been less than stellar overall, but OTOH, on more general principle I'm not going to knock a pitching staff that give up one run to Cleveland in 9 innings. 1 Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’m done trying to analyze this team. They’re just garbage. Make a move. Do something. We are a 100 loss organization in the last 162 games. Quote

Riley taking strike 3 was horrible. And so was Hinch's use of his better arms in the BP. And McKinstry getting picked off 2nd base. Inexcusable, all of them. I wouldn't just lay the blame on Riley. Like I said, IMO, it should never even have come down to a bottom of the 9th situation. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The Dark Cloud is that this will leave a bitter taste for all of us - and we wont have a season in 2027 to rinse it out The Silver Lining is - now they don't have to fret about keeping or trading Skubal. The question now is - Can Harris get a better haul than Avila did for J.D. and J.V. ? Quote

That's is certainly something that has always been arguable with Hinch - he does not seem to believe in short term trends at all. He's a long 'track record' guy all the way. I don't know if there is a mathematical right or wrong on the issue because different players have different kinds of performance/consistency arcs. Quote
