IdahoBert Posted July 2 Posted July 2 This game with Texas will be the 14th game in a row without a day off. And then Friday is an off day in the middle of the three game series in Arlington, Texas. Valdez is the starting pitcher. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I’m still puzzled that this ball club of ours couldn’t figure out the Houston Astros at home or on the road, but could sweep the New York Yankees in the Bronx. And it seemed that every relief pitcher the Tigers faced in New York was throwing 100 mph too. Strange game this baseball thing. Quote

I remember Leyland said "sometimes it doesn't matter who you face, but when you face them" or...something like that. The point is, the Yankees are struggling very bad right now. A very poor road team just swept them at Yankee Stadium. And yes, very strange. Quote

I did an image search to see if I could get more info about the unis, and stupid Gemini with all its artificial unintelligence coughed up some crap about a Tiger player (might have named him or not, can't remember) in a Yankee uniform and wearing a Tiger batting helmet, like it was the most normal thing ever. then I accidentally closed the window and reopened it, and the new Gemini summary said it was Ben Rice of the Yankees. it's like they say, "AI knows what facts look like but doesn't know what facts are." anyway, I was surprised to see that that was a home game. it was Sep 2018, and upon further non-AI-"assisted" googling, I see that those must have been 1968 road throwbacks for a 50th anniversary or something. IdahoBert Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I love those mid 60s to late 60s block lettered road uniforms the Tigers wore. The first pictures of Willie Horton I remember seeing him wearing those. For one year in the early 60s the Tigers had road jerseys I think that had a script that looked like a Dodgers uniform. Gratefully that did not last. Quote
romad1 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I'm going to manifest with my will that July is Bullpen Excellence month. I will give a $5 gift card for Sweetfrog or Baskin Robins to the Tiger reliever who performs best. My daughter works at the local Baskin so if the Tiger reliever wants to wait until she's working i can work that out so the scoops are larger than regular. 1 Quote

If I had an easy $10,000 for seats I’d induce the pilot of my Learjet to fly me to Dallas for that football game. But I’m a little light today because of all of those bet365 losses I’ve suffered. 2 Quote

The problem is that the Baseball and football/soccer stadium are right next door to each other and share parking space. Edited July 2 by monkeytargets39 Quote

I would follow this game closely if it were not for the fact that my policy of not caring and “benign neglect“ has resulted in three outstanding victories against the New York Yankees in their own backyard. I hesitate to depart from this practice until it fails me. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I have it on good authority that the Tigers will win tonight because they have their highest paid player on the mound. 💯 Quote

Edman85 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Who should we be rooting for in the Cleveland/Chicago series? I may actually say... Chicago. The projection systems have them lower than the 'ians, and I think if the Tigers go on a run, it's Cleveland they need to catch. 1 Quote

I was thinking about the same thing, but they need to go on a run quickly before they sell. So, the question may be who are they most likely to get close to in the next three weeks? The answer might be the same. The other question is how close do they need to get before Harris decides to go for it. Quote
