Position player pitching in the 7th?  Framber should’ve been made to pitch to 100 pitches

That might have gotten him to the second inning.

he's got a 90mph heater.

After tossing a bunch of rainbows, McKinstry tried to surprise Pete with 81. Pete actually yanked it barely foul.

And of course I’d left after the top of the eighth pleading with them to score at least one run as they were meekly going 1-2-3.

Jason is comfortable enough in his job opportunities to call out a huge media conglomerate. Kudos to him!!

Jason’s got professional options. He’s been positioning himself to be the Bob Costas of the 21st Century.

As long as he doesn't bring Dirks with him.

Bob Costas doing rain delay questions?  Seems a stretch.

Costas did a non-sports general interest interview show for a whlle "Late Night with Costas" I think it was called. Sometimes that wasn't too far away from "Rain Delay Questions"

What’s the point of the eephus pitches?  He can’t throw a 50-60 mph “fastball”?

they like the soft toss because they don't want the guy who goes in to hurt his arm -- and the eephus pitch messes with a major league  hitter's timing enough as long as they don't see it more than few times. Milt Wilcox used to throw an eephus occasionally as a serious pitch and it always caught the hitter off guard, but it was  hard to land for a strike trying to throw it from a normal fast pitch delivery. If that's all you are throwing it's easier to get the range right like Jake does.

Dirks might make more money as a realtor. I think that’s why he doesn’t go on the road.

His part-time gig on the TV can't be hurting his real estate business.

The people in the stands were legitimately annoyed and whinging the whole time McKinstry was pitching. "Come on, pitch the ball! What're you doing, giving up?!"

Well, yes, of course they're giving up. That's the whole pretext behind position players pitching.

But his real estate business could be affecting his TV job if he's not putting effort into it.

As long as the Tigers are happy with Dirks, the gig is win-win for him on both sides of his ball.

I don’t necessarily care if he pitches slow, but he was mostly throwing 2 feet out of the zone with them.  If you’re gonna soft toss, at least throw it near the dish so it can be swung at or cheekily called a strike by the ump

Not for me though!  I prefer more of Petry.

I'm probably the oddball but I wouldn't want to deal with him at all.   Personality and split focus.

I think Dirks was pretty good on the radio when he first started.  At this point though, it seems like he doesn't prepare at all and adds nothing to the broadcasts.

Agreed. Much less giggling. But the Daniella interviews in the stands during game play has to end. We dont watch for that nonsense, we tune in for baseball.

They could always just CGI in an image of Daniella sitting in a chair wearing a skirt on the backside of the pitching mound instead of an ad logo and then just not actually have her as part of the broadcast.  Would probably contribute the main thing people seem to enjoy about her.

Dirks was much better on the radio when he had to describe the action through analysis.  Now he just farms for viral moments.  Petry is far superior on TV.

She doesn't bother me much.  She doesn't really add a lot, but she seems more genuine (as far as being a real fan) than most of the pretty women sideline reporters across sports.

Don't underestimate the effect Daniella has on in bringing female viewers in.... particularly younger ones.  I say that simply because of the younger women I know, those under 35, a lot of them follow her on instagram and can relate to her.

As much as I personally don't need the kind of fluff that she brings to the broadcast, she is indeed relatable and has a pleasant personality.

I don't care how much air time they give her interviews - the insipid interviews aren't that much worse than the normal game commentary. Just keep the video on the field after the initial interview setup is done.
