IdahoBert Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Melton v. Webb. Could be quite the battle. Still soaring after Jobe’s triumphal return. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I forgot Bergie was a Giant. We got him in the Willie Hernandez trade with the Phillies (I think for Glen Wilson an John Wockenfuss - guess we won that one - doing this by memory, I'll have to chedk), So Bergman got traded to the Phillies, but never played for them and got traded here. Is that it? (checking baseball reference..........) Yes, I remembered that trade right ! 1 Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Was yestreday the best Tommy John return game in MLB history? It'd be hard to top it. I guess, actually, the fact that Tommy John even pitched again was the best come back in TJ history. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Riley is again swinging from his heels, a really long swing, and the strikeouts are piling up. Terrible approach, making contact has rewards. Quote

I know Hinch had a pitch limit written in stone but pulling a pitcher with an active no hitter would invite trolls criticizing him. Not that we (or he) would care. Quote

Trolls have nothing but confidence, attitude, and contrariety to add to any discussion. 1 1 Quote

Torks OBP is pushing 375 recently but he hasn't hit a HR in 15 games. Quote

Harris' guys (Clark and McGonigle) are both very tough ABs for children who are unable to rent cars. 1 Quote

It makes the pitcher throw more pitches. But with runners on 3rd base and less than 2 outs? Inexcusable. Make contact 80% of the time. Watch McGonigle, he finds a pitch to drive and....hits it. Quote

But we could never have drafted those kids if it were not for doing all that losing under Al Avila...🤣🤣🤣 Quote
Dan Gilmore Posted August 9 Posted August 9 On the subject of batters improving/regressing, I am heartened by McKinstry’s offense since the start of July. I don’t want him featured in any medium or long term planning aside from limited utility roles, but…right now he’s contributing. Quote
IdahoBert Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Avila is always the counter-intuitive genius and Harris is always the wine and cheese college boy who reaps what Avila hath sewn. Quote

I think Avila drafted Melton? The 2022 draft was before Harris got hired? I guess I'm not sure... Quote

Tiger337 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Hinch keeps using pretty much the same line-up all the time now and they are winning. Coincidence? 1 Quote
Sports_Freak Posted August 9 Posted August 9 After listening to those announcers last night, it will be nice to get back to Jason and Dirks. Or Dickerson and Dirks if Jason is gone today. Quote
Tiger337 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 The audio is horrible. It sounds like Dickerson (I think it's him) is screaming into the microphone with a lisp. I had to mute it. Is anyone else hearing that? Quote
IdahoBert Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Melton answers 3-up and down with a few more pitches. Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I’m really liking how Keith has been going to the left side a lot more lately. Quote

IdahoBert Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I was hoping for a little more offense by our boys by now. Kind of got used to it. Quote
Tiger337 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Dickerson and Dirks are talking about Torkelson's defense. They think he's a good defender and that the metrics are not working for him. They may a point. I have never felt too confident in the evaluation of first base defense. If it's not working, then it kills his WAR too. Quote
