Man, this is a lot of tension. I think I’ll watch the field of dreams game on Netflix tonight. Seeing the Twins lose would perhaps help me sleep tonight.

Barry Bonds is one of the announcers and he doesn’t look all pumped up anymore… Well, I guess if cycling can welcome Lance Armstrong back then baseball can do the same thing for Barry Bonds. Right?

Actually, cycling isn’t so much welcoming Lance back as NBC is when they had him on after every Tour de France stage hawking supplements. And MLB isn’t really welcoming Bonds back.  From what I can tell, Netflix is.

I would not say that because lance has a podcast that cycling has welcomed lance back. In fact, my understanding is that everyone still hates lance.

maybe next year he tries to win all three in the same year?

while he does make the outcome of each tour he's in a foregone conclusion, he is an exciting rider.  this year's end to the last stage was awesome.  vanderpol's last stand!

Did I ever tell y’all that I know Frankie Andreu and his wife?  Kids kind of grew up together and they went to our church.  It wasn’t until the Lance stuff broke that I knew what he did. Suddenly he’s on the news.

I've spent an appreciable % of my life on a road bike. I find bicycle racing about as exciting as watching grass grow. 🤷‍♀️

I think he’s be right if the Tigers did what he’s implying. But I don’t see trading Skubal as giving up or not trying.  Not to relitigate but They had a hard deadline.  I viewed it as a hybrid approach.  This wasn’t what the 2017 team did.  The Baltimore loss was a convenient PR win. If they were “not trying” then Clark would have stayed in the minors.

The only bicycle related tidbit I can drop is that I once went out on a couple dates with Connie Paraskevin.  But that was back when she was a speed skater.   

I remain the only person in my family to date a future Olympian.

I think he puts off the treble attempt a bit longer. I think he’s focused next year on getting Paris-Roubaix added to his ledger. And then another tour. 
 

But I also think he might get a kick out of riding for Del toro in the Giro or something. We’ll see.

Honestly, I think they looked at the numbers and projections, predicted the effect of replacing Skubal and Mize with the alternatives of Anderson and Jobe, and decided, you knw what? We can still do this, plus load up for the future.

Besides, that other A.J. misconstrued the targeted selling of Skubal and Mize as a white flag. It obviously was not because we kept literally everyone else*. He will soon come to understand what the Tigers really did, if he hasn’t already by now. It will not only become obviously, but has a chance of becoming a model for others should it succeed.

Some may say that even if we make the playoffs, we’ve kneecapped our chances of winning in late October by dealing our two aces. I would guess the counter to that would be, this is not the peak team we’re building toward, and anything we do in the playoffs beyond the ALDS this season is gravy. We’re not derailing the goal of building toward that peak for a one-shot 1-in-12 chance of making it all the way this year.

Towards the end of that clip, AJP kind of explains why trading two aces made sense for the Tigers this year: because the AL sucks. This is the perfect season to cash in high-value starting pitchers despite the team playing very well, because the path through the AL is not as difficult as it usually is.
