Motor City Sonics Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Oh for the love of ****, someone make Mike Love go away. Just crawl into a hole. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted August 29 Posted August 29 This popped up somewhere in my feeds. It hits home this week after spending time with cousins I haven’t seen in probably 30 plus years at an uncle’s life celebration service. He passed a couple weeks ago after turning 98. Quote
Biff Mayhem Posted August 30 Posted August 30 My favorite band still creating catchy pop-rock tuneage and they’re in their 70’s. Quote
ewsieg Posted August 30 Posted August 30 I listened to 89x yesterday. Heard a couple of songs i've never heard before along with your standard 'classic' alternative music from the 90's. I don't listen to radio much anymore, but had to give a listen after I heard it was back. Quote
oblong Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Jerry Cantrell is here tomorrow. I’m already going to see Tedeschi Trucks on Wednesday and Bonnie Raitt and Jimmy Vaughan Saturday. Does the old man have it in him to go tomorrow? Quote

smr-nj Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Like I do every year, I am listening to the 9/11 memorial reading of the names. First plane hit the tower 8:46. I recall it was the most beautiful fall day. Please implore your congressional representatives to keep the funding for those firemen & others who are still suffering from severe health issues from working in the rubble for many of those subsequent days. smr-nj Posted September 11 Posted September 11 10:28 North Tower collapses. i spend much of that day desperately trying to reach my sister, who lived in Manhattan, by phone. Wasn’t successful until i eventually realized cell tower calls weren’t getting through. I reached her by email later that afternoon. She previously worked about two or three blocks away from the World Trade Center, but had been laid off about a month previous, but I knew every week she was down there visiting with friends and coworkers and networking so she could find her next job. I just didn’t know if she was down there that morning. Thankfully, she was not. That was the scariest six or seven hours ever to me. 1 Quote
CMRivdogs Posted September 12 Posted September 12 On the day the US was attacked Pat Benatar was scheduled to perform a concert at a vineyard in Napa, Ca. The promoter urged her to go thru with it. After opening with America the Beautiful, this was the second song in the set. This video is from a TV concert a few years later Quote

It had just gone full time modern rock from the weirdo day/night format thing they were doing. Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I’m not listening to much, but my son is in Chicago this weekend for Riot Fest. He’s 23 and he’s never been in a big city with his friends without parental supervision and he’s having the time of his life staying at the Hilton across from Grant Park. Other than Weird Al, I’m not sure who else he saw today and I’m not expecting him to constantly update me. Tomorrow among other things, he’s seeing Jack White and The Beach Boys. Tomorrow Green Day closes the show with about two hours of music. He went to the museum of science and industry this morning and was completely blown away. Everything is occurring at Douglas Park and there’s more groups playing in three days than I care to count. I’m really happy for him. I did count and there’s roughly 90 bands https://riotfest.org/chicago/lineup/ 3 Quote

Easily a $50 Uber ride during Riot Fest, perhaps even more. Quote
antrat Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Never been a big Springsteen fan, but his album Nebraska is a masterpiece. I have been listening to the whole album pretty much the last couple weeks. Just rediscovered it with the lossless on Spotify. So imagine my shock when I saw a commercial for a new movie about Springsteen and his making of Nebraska and apparently how the record company was not too happy to release an all acoustic album about working class struggles and men doing dark deeds. Starring Jeremy Allen White, the guy from The Bear. Actually hoping this is going to be good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQXdM3J33No Quote
oblong Posted October 2 Posted October 2 White gets to play both Springsteen and Kerry Von Erich. Quote
ewsieg Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Last nights NFL game faded out to one of its commercial breaks with a Goldfinger song, that led me to listening to some old songs of theirs. This was one of my favs: Quote
oblong Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Just watched a video where Geddy and Alex announced, rather emotionally, that they will tour in 2026. Annika Nilles will play drums. She toured with Jeff Beck and is awesome. Geddy also said they may bring along a keyboard player so he can focus on bass. This is…. Awesome. 1 1 Quote

Driving to Chicago, Toronto or Cleveland for it? The Cleveland show could be their last show ever. Edited October 11 by Motor City Sonics Quote
