  1. Past hour
  2. So then why is he the one bat you keep using as an example of the trade Harris should have made? The Diamondbacks required Melton, his fall off was predictable, his swing and miss didn't fit what the lineup needed. Yet he is the 1 example you keep repeating as evidence that Harris won't make any trades to improve the offense.
  3. I had the same thought, but if they did get a good glove no hit center fielder, everybody would have complained about the no hit part.
  4. Actually in defense of Freak, this is the exact counter argument. Harris was able to score a cheap no hit decent glove SS, but I certainly could not have told you Zach Short was available. So who's to say he couldn't have found a decent glove CF with a similar career profile as Zach? They certainly must exist - just like Zach does, even if they have no visibility to a Tiger fan. I think it's more likely Harris just thought he didn't need to because he had Perez and Vierling. I probably might have made the same call, but as it has played out I think we have all been disappointed in Vierlings play in CF. And Wenceel is just having a terrrible, no-good, very bad season altogether.
  5. But they were trades. No trades happen in April or May? 100% wrong.
  6. Nancy Mace is a horrible person, but trying to poke the nest of the pedo coverup was a bridge too far for the pedo in chief.
  7. And he may have been even worse at Comerica. Like I said, we dodged that particular bullet.
  8. TBF, it wasn't hard to see that Suarez was likely to fall off - his recent history showed (strong first halfs, poor 2nd halfs) it as well as his K pct. I didn't want anything to do with him myself as we already had enough issues with contact. If we got him for Jace Jung, sure. But nothing of real value.
  9. I don't know who could have predicted that everyone except Greene, Dingler and Torres would be significantly worse than previous years. McKinstry, Perez and Jones provided good value last year. Vierling provided value the year before. Why wouldn't a GM stick with them? Every team needs those cost controlled bench players to be successful. That's the problem though. They are bench players forced into starting roles so their weaknesses have been more exposed. I don't think opposing GMs are lining up to bail the Tigers out of their predicament. They are going to ask for the moon because the Tigers are in a desperate situation. I don't think it's realistic to expect a trade at this point. They tried to fill gaps with their own guys whose track records they liked. It just hasn't worked out for the best.
  10. so he dodged a bullet but should have been shot anyway because he didn't know he was dodging a bullet
  11. 3 players designated for assignment and one a RP who hasn't made the majors. Not a single major league starter, try again.
  12. Amick reported that Charlotte and Sacramento have had talks about Sabonis.
  13. I didn't think it would ever come to this, but I am becoming afraid of this generation.
  14. Elon released a statement about the orbital data centers. They were based on 175kW supply power (ground based data centers run up to 50MW). That's so little compute power/cost a medium size business could just put the equivalent in a shed behind the building and have it in house. Maybe he's counting on an order of magnitude reduction in energy/compute, which is certainly possible, but it still a few years away at best. And OTOH, if we get another order of magnitude reduction in energy/compute, will anyone need centralized data centers? The tension between local and centralized compute will always be there in it tech.
  15. FIFA is one of the few organizations with corruption on par with the Orange pedo turd
  16. No, I'm not, but then, our top two CFs are hurt, and our CF of the future is in AAA, so I didn't expect much out of them, anyway. But that's fine, I'll back down. I only wanted to confirm how seriously we should take you, anyway. I'm going to go out on a limb and conclude there was never any magic solution any GM could have abra-cadabraed in exchange for a bag of balls that would have fixed our situation with above-average CF production for just long enough until Max Clark puts him out of a job.
  17. ................................by Harris.
  18. So we need somebody running the team who can see into the future? The defense of Scott Harris never ends, huh? Any waiver wire players available? A Harris speciality...🤣🤣
  19. Yeah, the bats didn't preform much. I was hoping for Suarez, it was a position of apparent need and he wanted to come here. But in hindsight, he didn't do much after he was traded. Bullet...dodged
  20. Inflation up to 4.2% in May. So. Much. Winning.
  21. Inflation is way up. Where are all the folks who were screaming about inflation as Joe Biden was rescuing us from Trump's horrible reaction to the Covid pandemic?
  22. Not me, win or lose we need to trade him. If anyone gives him $400M it'll be a Zimmerman, Miggy's last, JAvy level contractual bungle. He's injury prone with probably 2 good years left at best.
  23. but that doesn't satisfy the "do something" itch.
  24. And then the Tigers would have outfielders blocked. But we could use a player for CF until Clark is ready. Maybe a stud for RF too? But losing Skubal, even the thought of it, sickens me. I hope we extend him.
  25. Fun fact: Tigers did better at 3B between Colt and McStinky after August 1 than the Mariners did with Suarez. And we still have Troy Melton. Scott Harris FTW. 😉
  26. For the record, I would have been open to including one of the Briceno/Rainer for Johan Duran and potentially both for Joe Ryan, but not any of them for any of the bats that were available.
