  1. Past hour
  2. Lol at people who think this absolute **** annual event would/should be held, let alone held at the white house in a new ballroom Plot totally lost
  3. They both (this one and the one in Butler) looked fake, and if any administration was going to do two fake assassination attempts, it would be this one, but I don't think they were staged. A staged assassination attempt requires too many people to be on board and I think somebody would leak it. Someone got killed in the first one and don't think they would be able to get everyone on board with murder. Nobody got killed in this one (not yet), but I still don't believe everyone would be on board.
  4. Per bbref, Aaron Harang’s top similarity score match is Randy Wolf. So when are we going to see a Wolf statue at Commercial Park?
  5. The purported gunman may well have been just a guy. In which case, he is a symptom of the powerlessness of our citizens in a democracy when "those people" or "the man" control all aspects of the system: the three branches of government and the media 4th estate and now the meta layer of data manipulation. It all serves a crust that definitely does not care about the well-being of its citizens and only cares about its own power. Well, that's not great. The other case is that he's actually part of the manipulation of the system. That would be worse.
  6. Just because the effectiveness of such a tactic might have lost its edge in particular circumstances doesn’t mean a largely incompetent and unstudious regime, looking for any edge to change the conversation and increase their popularity through any means, including through orchestrated sympathy, won’t continue to try it. In any event, we now are talking about this event, which was weirdly under enough control to allow them to keep the president in the building for almost an hour after the noise, and not about something else. I would just say we might keep our eyes peeled for something really horrific that’s going under the radar while we continue to focus on this.
  7. The Hinch to Boston thing makes sense when you consider he was there just last weekend.
  8. It all comes from the same person
  9. I am very cynical with all this crap. That AI asking for your name and address - it's recording your voice and I think there is the STRONG possibility that somewhere down the line the recording of your voice will be used to get you into something you never agreed to do. "Well, we've got a recording of you giving your info for this.......". Sure, it would be foolish for major companies to do this, but look what Wells Fargo did with customer information. Opened millions of fake accounts. They got busted. Paid a fine (which was far less than what they probably gained in the scam) and then they DID IT AGAIN. only using info from people who weren't their own customers. Gee, wonder where they got that info? Wells Fargo shouldn't be allowed to exist anymore, yet people still kneel to them. I'm just so beaten down by all of it. I just don't get why there is so much dishonesty and scumbaggery in this world and especially in this country (because the wealthy NEVER get punished in the USA). We've reached a point where dishonesty is celebrated and when you just live your life in relative honesty and with relative integrity, YOU are the one that's the outsider. A.I. is only going to accelerate it all.
  10. Wait, why is the idea of Hinch leaving the Tigers and going to Boston showing up in multiple threads all of a sudden? I do a search on the idea and there is zero coming up about it. Where is this chatter originating?
  11. Even with a Tigers win today, looks like this 1940 World Series grudge match goes to the Reds.
  12. Are you more like afraid A.J. Is going to quit his multi-year contract and leave his two-time playoff team well into fulfilling its plans to become a perennial contender, with some of the best young players in the game due to join the roster in the next few years? Or are you more like hoping A.J. is going to leave?
  13. I can accept the idea that the Reds were so bad during that era that they had to somehow identify the tallest midget to honor, but if it was the steroids era’s fault that they had no choice but to honor a four-plus ERA, at least his ERA+ would be closer to 115 or 120 than 103.
  14. But even if this were the case, to what end? This will likely be forgotten in a week or two, just as Charlie Kirk was forgotten within a week or two for the vast majority of people. As Viktor Orban learned a few weeks ago, the playbook starts to lose its effectiveness when people are pissed about their material conditions

    MAP PR0N!

The only two I can ever remember is that UK is 44 and Canada is 1. I also did not realize that Greenland is in Africa. 😉
  17. WTF would that make any Tiger fan feel better? You think we give a shi* about your gambling? Get over yourself...Ohio sucks.
  18. I don’t think this would be so hard a setup for them to pull off. Maybe the incompetence part here is the inability to get us to believe it is reasonably possible for the Secret Service to not be able to fully secure a single building in Washington DC ahead of the president.
  19. This is a good take. I'm still not sure what to think about the various loose threads of this event though. This is definitely a card in Putin's playbook as seen by the Hungarian election "assassination attempt" and we know that Putin loves him some Trump.
  20. The first rule of Motown Points is we don’t talk about Motown Points.
  21. I don't buy the conspiracies surrounding this and continue to believe this administration is too incompetent to actually execute anything elaborate that is often attributed to them in times like these. Having said that, hard not to find a bit of dark amusement that all these people who have worked diligently to lower trust throughout greater society and exploited it gleefully while campaigning for power now find themselves distrusted by many people now that they themselves have power.
  22. I wonder if Montero will be able to throw strikes? The only effective Tiger pitchers recently have been the lesser BP arms. Any help in Toledo? Vest and Flaherty need to be demoted. Jack really isnt a BP option with his inability to throw strikes or his inability to throw quality strikes. Vest is just dangerously inconsistent. Nibbling the corners and falling behind hitters isnt working for him. It seems like teams have all figured out not to swing at his early count pitches out of the strike zone.
