Say what? -
Look at what Thompson did to Bane this series.

a number of conflicting reports about doings in the Persian Gulf this AM. The USN may or may not be trying to get ships past Hormuz. Of course the Navy doesn't have nearly enough ship to escort all the traffic waiting in the gulf even if they wanted to, and I doubt they want to.

He's so solid in every aspect. Gives one reassurance that this is not some illusion and we are really looking at the early days of a decades long star.

There are quite differing opinions on what Moore will be. I've read some that say he is more of a 3-4 stand up edge, and others that he will be a 3 down 4-3 edge setter. I know he stood up a lot at Michigan but that was probably just Wink forcing guys to fit in his system, rather than what they are best at.

So Anthony Black ended up being the Magic defender who defended Cade on the most possessions for the series. Cade's EFG% was 34% with Black as the primary defender, a full 5 points lower than when Franz defended him.

As children we were just stunned and none of us were crying because it was just unbelievable and it was hard for us to process, and I don’t think any of us had much investment in his persona as the adults might. I do remember they brought TVs into all the classrooms for his inauguration and it was pretty impressive. He definitely had a lot of charisma or an aura about him that even children could pick up on. -
I just had to activate my You Tube TV yesterday after cancelling it for the summer. Amazon had the Friday game.

It was such a different era. Today it would be like: "Oh- someone shot the President? Hmmm. Well, on to lesson II" The other funny thing to contemplate is whether anyone would be crying in the hall if it had been Nixon. Even if you had voted for RMN, it's hard to imagine having much emotional investment in him! 🤷♂️ -
The only problem (OK - not the *only* problem) with MTGs epiphany is that if she were a more serious person she would have stayed in the House and kept up the opposition. But it points up how hard it is for the blue side to actually move these people to their side. Trump is losing support among people like Green who have come to oppose him on an issue, e.g. Green on Epstein, Carlson on Iran, but who still support too much of the remaining RW agenda to ever actually vote on the blue side. A couple of generations ago, when political difference weren't so culturally conditioned, it was a lot easier to get people to change parties over policy issues. Today getting a person across the divide is tied up in personal identity issues as well as policy preferences.

I remember when JFK was shot there was this strange hubub in the halls as all the teachers left their classrooms and they were hugging each other and crying and then our teacher Mrs. Vaughn returned from the hallway choking back the tears and told us all to leave and that the President had been shot dead and school was canceled for a few days. -

Joe Sr arranged for some dude with the same name as his opponent to also be on the ballot, splitting that vote even further. The grandson of the former mayor of Boston and son of a wealthy, if disgraced somewhat, ambassador didn't need much help winning a seat. His campaign would announce fundraising opportunities and send them out to all the single women in town with the promise that the rich young eligible bachelor may show up... thus all the mothers of these women would push their daughters to go in the hopes of finding a husband. - Today

Was listening to this game and was wondering how McGonigle got to 2nd. Dan and Dirks talked about Rogers sort of fooling the Rangers about which way he was going, but the key for McGonigle was that Burger just completely abandoned 1st base to run at Rogers instead of throwing the ball. Burger had gone so far across the diamond that KM could go most the way to 2nd safe in the knowledge he could beat Burger back to 1st if a throw did go to 2nd. Bad play for the Rangers all around.

Brogna had a couple of decent years with the Mets in 94-95, but was below replacement level after that. -
We have heard this here and there in bits and pieces, but to hear it all at one time is pretty remarkable. https://x.com/mtgreenee/status/2050989308815818823/video/1?s=61

Rico played 848 games over 9 seasons and managed to amass a whopping -1.1 WAR. Much like left handed relief pitchers, if you can hit 20 hr you keep getting chances. Zinter spent 13 yrs in AAA with an overall 838 OPS. A worthy nominee for the Mike Hessman association. -
