Hanifee making $795,500 in the bigs, $331,218 in the minors. So going down lowers the bill a bit. I don't know what Waguespack's making. I'm guessing $850,000, just copying what Short is making. Short gets paid his MLB rate while in DFA limbo. If he clears waivers and gets outrighted, he would get prorated $180,000 the rest of the way. If he opts out, the Tigers are off the hook. ... Yeah, I don't get that. He's hitting as well as Jones , but much better defensively at a position where a late inning replacement is needed. I know they're not worried about Short being claimed, but I don't think they had to worry about Jones either -if he was, no great loss.
