  1. Past hour
  2. switch out Holland for Castle and this team is still playing. Getting jack squat from the 5th pick in 2022 and 2024 drafts just kills me
  3. Wait...a day game? I"m not done complaining about last night's game yet...🤣🤣
  4. But if they were scoring multiple runs per game, the mistakes wouldn't be remembered. Limited scoring makes the mistakes more glaring.
  5. Agreed. But hopefully, Perez will be benched and Flaherty will be replaced in the starting rotation. Melton is on his way back, maybe Sunday?
  6. Even still, I think Castle has superstar potential. He has a lot of Cade to his game, including the grit
  7. A batter could guess that the first pitch is going to be the one he wants and then swing at it and it's not. The same goes for any pitch in the sequence. Are Tigers down in the count more often than hitters on other teams?
  8. Probably because they treat the Constitution like MAGA Christians treat the bible: they embrace the parts that make them feel good, and they ignore the rest.
  9. But if you can't tell the difference at all, it really makes no difference whether you swing or not does it? If all you can do is guess, then you have a finite chance of running into it, as compared to the chance the pitcher is going to miss. So sure, it comes down to understanding who the pitcher is and what his command is like and seeing whether he is stuggling to throw strikes or so sharp he is just toying with hitters. But the trend of some things is still knowable. If a batter is constantly down in the count without having swung the bat over hundreds of AB, he is giving himself no chance.
  10. well, the dumb part about the War Powers act is that the President can veto the resolution, which then means it you need an override super majority - which ain't gonna happen anyway. We used to think that having a Constitution instead of just a precedent guided Parliament like Britain was an advantage. I just don't think it's true anymore. The US Constitution and its recent SCOTUS interpretations are hindering US democracy far more than they are helping to achieve it.
  11. Today
  12. That works for gifted hitters, but for average hitters the pitch that looks like a great pitch might actually be the worst pitch to hit. The pitcher knows batter strengths and weaknesses and he tries to fool batters all the time. With only a split second to react, it is easy for a batter to be deceived.
  13. False choice. There can be both. 😏
  14. So what if Senate votes to pass the resolution to curb war powers? What do they expect Trump to do in response? Comply? As if.
  15. absolutely. But guys develop tendencies and if you are going to be a good hitter you have be aware yourself and fight falling into habits where the problem is your brain as much as your ability to hit the ball. It's probably a good question whether when hitters cycle in and out of performance level how much is luck, how much is mental, how much is physical. With batted ball metrics we can sort of figure out the luck part now, the split between physical fatigue plus sub clinical injury vs just losing your mental edge is probably unknowable.

  17. Especially likely since under the terms of the settlement, the government has no responsibility for “the protection or safeguarding” of the funds once they have been placed into the account, including any issues related to bank errors or crimes, like fraud, that may be committed with the money. The fund will also be managed by a six-person commission, five of whom will be appointed by the Trump-appointed attorney general, and any of whom can be unilaterally removed by Trump at any time for any or no reason. What could possibly go wrong?
  18. They are being delayed due to the Iran War and you should be thankful for that.
  19. this is from The Athletic's mock draft, #17 pick by OKC, M Johnson of UM: "But Johnson is undersized for his role despite his strength and doesn’t have a ton of offensive versatility. Essentially, he’s a play finisher around the interior. That skill set is reminiscent of Isaiah Stewart, and Stewart has turned into a very valuable player for the Pistons. Oklahoma City has been linked to Stewart before, and even though the Thunder took Thomas Sorber last season, they’re loaded everywhere and can afford to take another big." going to be interesting to see if TL can pull off multiple moves this summer
  20. The monster in the room is citizens united. Its allowing Orban and Putin to fund all sorts of terrible things. There is no returning to normality as defined by anyone. The only path is synthesis as taught by the harsh lessons of this criminal gang in power right now.
  21. Sometimes the pitch you think is right isn't actually right because the pitcher masks it effectively enough to make it look like one type of pitch when it's really another, and then it's too late. Hitting is hard. Hitting at the major league level is major league hard.
  22. Not everyone enjoys playing for a self righteous, know-it-all manager who gives all the credit for any success to himself and lays the blame at the feet of the players either. Maybe the players are growing sick of it.
  23. need to fix SC. add 4 justices. impeach Alito and Thomas, remove them. strip Roberts of CJ title. Congress decides what the SC non-constitutional jurisdiction is, so start limiting their ability to review the things you know they are going to screw with need to fix House of Representatives. add 50% more seats. Texas, Fla, NY, Illinois, and Cali will benefit the most. need to have more Reps for 330M people. need to fix EC. impossible. ****ty red states would never give up their advantage of having land vote for presidents. need to round up MAGA trash and eject them straight into the sun. Dems lack the will and balls to get this done, terrified of what the RW media will say about them, terrified of being seen as not "reaching across the aisle". institutionalists will preach moderation, deliberateness, and of course cooperation with people who are trying (and succeeding) in destroying the country Dems will not save us from MAGA. no one will.
  24. The advice to be ready when you get a pitch you like and swing at it seems like solid advice for anyone that has ever tried hitting a baseball
  25. C.a.v.e.a.t E.m.p.t.o.r
  26. They say average hitters aren't good enough to get much advice from great hitters, but FWIW, Cabrera also swung at a lot of 1st pitches.
  27. I do think the RWM is the linchpin of this whole thing, and if that ecosystem could be somehow decimated, that would go a long way toward breaking the spell.
