  1. No complaints here about the Pooch Barnhart trade. He gets on base against RHP at a decent enough rate and appears to be a pretty good defender. Plus, they didn't give up anything of significance. This was probably their best case scenario at the catching position this winter.

  2. One of Youngkin’s promises is to eliminate the sales tax on groceries. Cool, but where is he going to make up the revenue? Is he going to pull a Carlyle Group move and eliminate DMV employees? Raise the personal property taxes we pay on automobiles? How about cut major social services? I for one am looking forward to my nieces and nephews learning that slaves loved their masters and spent their spare time singing and dancing. Just like they taught us in the 50s and 60s. And now poor 17 year olds in advanced studies classes won’t be triggered by stories about slave mothers killing their children so they don’t want them to go through the horrors she was suffering

  3. And 31 years old? Calvin would have more of a point if he was 37 played 15 years and we refused to trade him. None of that happened. He left and wanted to keep the engagement ring. Then got all pissy when the lions took it back

  4. I know I wasn't a fan of signing Barnhart, mainly because of his bat, and the Tigers definitely need to improve their hitting, but he's on our team now and so I have faith in him. I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith, as there’s a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run. And so that’ll make it a 4-0 ballgame.

  5. Al with a clever move. The thread in the other board (a board which is now a gambler's anonymous honeytrap) about firing Al by Memorial Day seems like a distant memory.

  6. Bravo, Al Avila. Quintana was never going to make it to Erie, and was thrown in there to make it look like a trade. Barnhart is good defensively with a .700 OPS, LHB, from the 9th spot in the order. This is a perfect outcome to solve the hole at catcher, could not conceivably be better. We should acknowledge that the OPS is in the home park where Suarez hits 40 home runs. But still, this is a brilliant personnel move.

  7. absolutely. It was quite strange. The traditional playoff team's dilemma is usually which regular starters give up their role because you don't need 5 in the players. The Braves were pretty much down to 2 starters and they still managed to win.

  8. I really think Biden and his people created most of their own problems instead of being set up to fail. Some things deteriorated rapidly when he signed exec orders on Jan 20. Especially the border which was finally under control until he blew it up. Afghanastan withdrawal was another fiasco on their part when they let the Taliban control things. Other issues like the supply chain probably aren't his fault directly but its on them to get it fixed and they're not doing too good at it.

  9. I believe there is a simple solution for the Dem's... Quit looking dysfunctional and pass the infrastructure and BBB bills, don't stumble over raising the debt level, etc... Look competent, pass meaningful legislation, give the economy a big pop... And the votes will come in for Dems. IMO.

  10. Things lined up better for the 0-16 Lions. They did have Calvin Johnson already and there was a clear cut franchise QB available with the #1 pick. They were also lucky enough to get the 2nd pick the next season and St Louis took a QB instead of Suh. I also have to wonder though if the timeline for that 0-16 team would have been accelerated a year if Stafford wasn't injured his 2nd year? He only played 3 games that year and was pretty decent in those 3 games.

  11. I like that Youngkin was viewed more favorably by the electorate than Trump. This means that Trump remains an anathema. I still think the GOP needs to feel the sting of 6/JAN a lot longer.

  12. I was listening to a game on my am stereo, when I caught a ball and Ernie said that a man from Sterling Heights caught the ball, and Jim Price said "nice area". This story is bullshit.

  13. Teams inside the division as well. Have to beat your peers in order to make the next step

  14. I'm glad it's over and happy that the Braves won. Hopefully the owners and MLBPA will have an agreement before December 1 and we can see who Al can sign for next year. Unless Al gets drunk out on his boat I think we could be disappointed in the signings.

  15. All the Dems need to do is make Youngkin Trump’s rival

  16. They didn't give any other reasoning and it only got announced today. At least that I've seen. Hope he (and his family) are okay if it is something like that.

  17. Voting rights in half the country in 2022 and 2024. How the hell is a cartoonist the one most able to show things so clearly (Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey.........)

  19. I wonder if Rasmussen would look good in Sweden too. Not trying to rain on Elmer’s parade, just thinking that there is a difference in leagues.
