He is relatively harmless compared to the alternatives. He is less popular domestically than he seems to be internationally. He isn't as smart as his father, not even close, but he's not as arrogant either. He has made a couple of public relations faux pas that make him seem very hypocritical and cynical. I am not a big fan, but I have voted for him. I think that a minority government, which is what we have now, is a good outcome.

But what does that mean? We know that the outcome of single game between two teams does not really resolve which team is 'better' in any general sense. If UM played OSU each week for 10 weeks I would not put a nickel on Michigan winning 5 or more. So of course if 12 teams play the outcome is going to have a high degree of randomness overlaying what ever 'real' difference there is in the quality of the teams. The initial idea of the tournament was to resolve the argument between which of the *small* number of teams that might all have some level of support for deserving the overall championship, i.e., those that got 1st place votes in a split poll. There is no way there are any number of people are contending the #12 team may really be the best in the country. There are reasons for having tournaments ($$$) but widening the tournament in football will just dilute the degree to which its winner is going to be the team most people believe is the best team - so that is not the reason this one will expand. The expanded playoff just moves you closer to the situation like the baseball playoff, where the winner is no-more than the team on the best short term run. The Braves may have won the WS, but would any sane baseball person exchange take the 2021 Braves in for the 2021 Dodgers or Giants?

For real... We need more social workers, counselors, etc. People trained in detecting this kind of thing. But to do that we need more of them and to get more of them we need to pay the field a salary to attract people to it. That means raising property taxes in Michigan. Our millages have consistently been voted down. I have a social worker friend. Got her master's from UM, one of the top schools in that field. He started out in debt and has made under $50K a year for the last 25 years. For most social workers it's poverty level wages. So this is the result. What a great recruiting tool for more teachers. Become proficient in firearms and spend all it takes to do that. Don't forget the gun and ammo. Study psychology and in particular the kind of thing that would make you spot a killer. Learn the field you are going to teach. Learn how to teach..... I'm sure I am leaving out a lot of it.
