I’ve conducted two funerals for people who died from COVID. I’m a pastor. I’ve lost two good friends in another outbreak. I know of about a dozen others in my extended circle who have died. Including a niece’s dad-in-law. This isn’t funny. Or frivolous. I’ve never seen anything like this in 33 years of my career. I have yet to meet a single person hurt by a vaccination. Enough with your willful stupidity, Fox Wismic.8 points

One of the bigger problems is that Covid has become political. That's the worst thing that could have happened. Covid infects people of all political beliefs without discrimination. I also understand how people can have reservations about a vaccine that was developed in a short amount of time. Those people should be discussing their concerns with their doctor and not a politician.4 points

Unvaxxed people are dying 9-to-1 over vaxxed. The COVID-19 vaccines don’t prevent infection. They prepare you to fight infection with the best, most effective tool at hand. Where’s your sense of reason?3 points

This site is just a few months old, so the ignore function is unproven. I heard on a podcast that the ignore function infects compurers with malware. I am not going to let the government or anyone else tell me when I should use ignore.2 points

there are certainly issues with the regulatory state, but the primary one is the loss of democratic control of the government that runs the regulatory state. The problem is not a government that regulates - any good government must - and the clear difference between requiring people to take reasonable measures to insure the public health of all, as opposed the rent seeking lobbies that have given you permitting requirements to fix your own head as the result of their political expenditures should be self-evident. You have gotten as far as identification of the problem, but the reflexive response that anarchy and unrestrained power for those that can buy it is the wrong solution. The problem with the regulatory state in the US is that today it is driven more by the money contributed by commercial interests than the public interest. I'll give you three guesses how best to solve that, and the 1st two need not even count.2 points

Good loss. I wish we were getting the Seattle vs. Bears game because of all the snow.1 point

Would agree. Side note, I once received an email from an unlikeable coworker with the subject "Please Resign". I've consciously made sure of my hyphen placement since then.1 point

Well. Certainly not helpful. But as long as you feel better about it. Wallow in it. ============ I’ll see you guys/gals in the new year. Stay happy and healthy. Mazel Tov.1 point

So he made this album in 2001 of re-done versions songs he wrote before Space Oddity. It's called Toy. His record company rejected it. About 10 years later much of it leaked (Bowie himself leaked it) and it is part of a box set. It's a great album. Why they rejected it, I don't know. Record companies also told Ben Folds that he couldn't do a solo piano tour, it would kill is career. They also told Sarah McLachlan putting a festival tour together with all female artists would end her career. She made millions off it. Toy gets a stand-alone release the day before what would have been Bowie's 75th birthday, January 7th, 2022. Creepy cover, though.1 point

Maybe part of that problem is that we didn’t see enough pictures or video of young people with COVID on ventilators, the same way we saw pictures of children in iron lungs seemingly everywhere in the 1950s. Some of it might be the difference between old people and children, and some of it might have been the willingness back then to publish the iron lung pictures.1 point

The vaccine would be the end all of COVID, if everyone would take it as seriously as they took the polio shot, which did end up being the end all. Instead, as you say, COVID will be here for a long time because instead of doing their part to help eradicate it, too many people are willing to accept millions of somebody elses dying from it every year.1 point

I am happy we called his bluff. Anyone turning down 10/275, well.......1 point

I will say, ignoring took a bit of work. May I suggest a link on people's posts to do it straight from there? Perhaps that nudge can get people to stop flame wars sooner.1 point

Oh, for Pete’s sake …. This last page posts are exactly what I was talking about. Can’t any of you show some restraint? Don’t any of you remember that you have the capacity to put people on ignore? Can any of you resist the urge to get personal with your responses? Ugh.1 point

It's much quieter with him on ignore. It allows the adults to discuss true facts about covid. Mask up, people. And get vaxxed up. 😁1 point

What is this penchant of yours to insult, non-stop? Quite off-putting. Just sayin’. ======================== Hey folks, let’s all remember that not every post needs to be responded to. You can, at times, continue a line of thought and respond, without feeling the need to go tit-for-tat when a response looks very much like it was written with the sole intent of raising hackles. Merry Christmas.1 point

Our forebearers founded a country with liberty? Seriously? We still have work to do, but we have way more liberty now than we did back then. Blacks were treated like animals for most of our nations history and women were just an afterthought. But you feel oppressed now because you are asked to wear a mask when you shop during a pandemic? Do you realize how pathetic that sounds? 🙄 Maybe you need to experience a government oppressed society some place else, so you'll know what it means to be oppressed.1 point
