  1. I worked for Metro Traffic for several years. When they came into the markets they would make agreements with stations where they would take over payment for certain employees who would still broadcast on stations. The stations would turn over a certain number of minutes of commercial time to sell to clients. Since you still represented the station you were on you were still loyal to the station. The broadcast teams work similarly. They're probably effectively paid by the station but work for the team. A bit of disclosure, when we first came to Detroit my wife's position included supervision of the Tigers and Wings (and Lions) broadcasts. It was primarily the go between between the station and the teams. She did that as well with the Bears the last couple of years we were in Chicago. (She hates sports)

  2. Once my daughter starts school in Chicago this fall. We @buddhashould all have a meet up at some point over the next four years. Maybe not the drive by, blockade bar though. I am even down to take a bike ride there.

  4. Be sure you get one of the new Divvy bikes to ride when you’re here. Here I am on my own bike, pushing hard to maintain 16 or so MPH, huffing and puffing, sweating my ass off, and I still routinely get passed up by middle-aged ladies out on a Sunday ride on these newer-model Divvys, not even breaking a sweat. Makes me question my very existence when that happens.

  5. So much urgency that they are taking the weekend off from the negotiating table? I guess what else what else should we expect from a sport that won't address its lackluster pace of play issues. Manfred is strolling around the mound, gets back on the mound. Clark steps out of the box, plays with his batting gloves, gets back in the box. Manfred needs to go through the pitching signs again with his catcher because he can't remember what the one is and what the two is. Once the catcher gets back behind the plate, a midge flies in Clark's eye, so he steps out again and the trainer has to visit him with some eye wash. Clark gets back in, but Manfred now has to get the rosin back. Clark then needs some more pine tar. But I guess this us more activity than there was in December and January, so do we call this progress?

  7. Once it's announced that the 2022 season is cancelled, Ohtani will be going to Japan to play and he won't come back.

  8. Ohtani will still bat. Also, there is a rule where if a team is forced to move a DH to a defensive position they lose the DH for the rest of the game and the pitcher has to bat.
