  1. Congrats on the win but I just have to point out something I just realized. We have not hit a HR since Daz hit the go ahead homer in the 8th all the way back on June 2nd 10 games ago!

  2. One thing I'll say about Torks struggles, is that it is not like he's completely lost to the point of being hopeless. He's still showing a good approach at the plate. A BB% of 11.8 and a K% of 26.9 is not great, obviously, but it's workable, and really not out of the line for a reasonable expectation of his rookie year. Bart had a K rate of 45.4% in 108 PA, Kelenic 37.5% in 96 PA, Adell 34.5% with a BB% of 3.4% in 87 PA. Those guys were sinking while Tork is treading water. He's at the point where he needs to face ML pitching, he's not gonna get any better doing that by hitting AAA pitching.

  4. Dude, it takes every ounce of energy he has just to do normal things. The Parkinson's and the meds for Parkinson's are very draining for some people. I give him credit for gutting it out.

  5. Bear in mind a clean sweep means getting rid of AJ and Chris Fetter. And a whole bunch of guys they hired from other (more successful) orgs in the offseason to revamp their minor league development team. (ie. Ryan Garko, Gabe Ribas, etc.) It's painful, and I'm certainly on board with canning Al, but they've also made a lot of changes within the areas you are complaining about within the past 12 months. And I don't think firing Ryan Garko or Gabe Ribas after just hiring them away from the Angels and Dodgers is a smart idea at all.

  10. Hold on...Eric Haase hit 22 homers last year. His MLB track record before and after 2021 says it's not repeatable. Haase has done nothing offensively this year. He's not a good defender in either LF or at catcher. Are you arguing we should play him more? That's galaxy brain stuff. They have given Haase plenty of opportunities this season, he has 5 XBH in 85+ at-bats.

  12. Yeah I just don't get why we haven't brought in a new hitting coach. Sure there's a good chance that it wouldn't help but really how much could it hurt to atleast try? This is one of the worst offenses in the last 100 years and virtually everybody is performing WAY below their career norms or expectations and we're not gonna atleast try to bring in another set of eyes or voice to see if they could identify the problem?

  18. Worth noting Pacheco has a .793 OPS in Lakeland, which is good for a 130 wRC+.

  19. I don't really know how much a hitting coach can help veteran players. A lot of the same players did fine with him there last year and Baez has been uncoachable his entire career.

  20. The thing with MiLB hitters is that you can look at all their results and metrics and even if they are good maybe still make predictions about which guys that are doing well in the minors still don't have the ability for majors (e.g. Carpenter). But it doesn't go the other way. A guy can look perfect in the minors and still hit a wall against the quality of MLB pitching he can't get over. Bottom line, you never really know what level a hitter is going to top out at.

  23. What blows my mind is that they havent been shutout the most in the league - the Royals have. (IIRC) The lack of home run ball really hurts... if you're in a situation where you need 8+ hits in a game to score 4 runs on a given night, you aren't gonna score a lot of runs and win many games in this league.

  27. My dog Lucy was euthanized a couple days after I came home from the hospital (mid-May), … it’s been a sad few weeks…. But today, in the mail, I received a gift from a friend.. a framed photo of me & Lucy on a “road trip” that was just a week before. She had such a good day… so glad she got that adventure day (complete with a burger)- neither of us knew she’d be gone in a week.
