  1. My son is a senior in HS and we went on a campus visit this past Monday. While there he posted about it on (I think) Snapchat. Someone who is a freshman there replied and was going to meet up to talk to him, except his class schedule conflicted with what we had scheduled. He made sure to say that my son could reach out with any questions he might have though. The amazing thing about this to me is that the two of them are not friends. They went to the same grade school and maybe played soccer or baseball together a time or two, but they never hung around together or anything. It's what social media is supposed to be for, and it just blew my mind that teenagers can (and do) use those apps for good. You always just hear about how they are used for bullying, etc, so I was very pleased to see the other side of it.

  2. I agree with this. The best way forward is to keep leaning into Cade has a shooter/scorer and live with the results whatever they may be. If he ends up being a bad #1 pick, so be it. But at this point, we still need to proceed like he is our franchise player. And he's not going to be our franchise player just setting other guys up. There is enough possessions in a game to give both Ivey and Cade plenty of chances to play primarily with the ball. It's incumbent on Casey to make sure one of them is on the court at all times.

  3. an apology for any mistake, acceptance of the apology, and further discussion is all that is needed. there is no need for "punishment." there is need for forgiveness and understanding. if a pattern of disrespect emerges, then that should be dealt with differently. but one instance like this is not a cause for giving the internet mobs and ace anbender's of the world their pound of flesh.

  4. are you saying if a guy gets to $700K a year they should be set via a nest egg? I disagree. Half of that is gone for taxes and other fees. I don't think Eric Haase is set for life if he never plays another MLB game.

  5. Good ole Casey with unathletic 6'8" Stewart at the 5 and unathletic Bogdanovic at the 4 with unathletic Bey at the 3. Instead of playing Duren with the bench scrubs, why not save him for down the stretch against a team with multiple bigs that are hard to handle down low in place of Bey for instance? Not only that but I saw multiple times when Joseph was down low trying to box out Capela, how does that even happen? Oh, right, the stupid switch defense that he employs. I get that they are down a couple of bigs but it's almost as if Casey is coaching to lose as some kind of directive from management to obtain one more high pick.

  6. Nick's not the only one but someone here brought up the fact that for road teams that come in here for 3 games it's a minor nuisance and then they go away, for our guys it's a constant reminder and it has to play on their psyche. Oh I think it does. Players financial futures rise and fall on big numbers and home runs mean more money than flyouts and doubles. It's just ridiculous. It needs to change. 8-10 feet in CF and 15 feet in RCF won't turn it into a bandbox. Even if it did, it would a more exciting brand of baseball than we've been seeing recently. I saw somewhere that our stadium has probably cost Miggy 80-100 home runs over the years. Don't know if that's true, but wow............. I know it's a somewhat neutral park, but isn't it because of more extra base hits and more singles dropping in front of Centerfielders who play deep so the ball isn't hit over their heads?

  8. Of course Stewart can't get a rebound on the most important possessions of the game. It's insanity to play him as the only big man against the other teams starters. He either needs to be a bench player or be playing next to another big guy in the starting lineup. We are give up third and fourth chance opportunities and that makes it extremely hard to win.

  9. Livers might be a better fit with the starters as well. Simply because offensively, he doesn't try to do too much. When he's open, he shoots. He moves without the ball. Doesn't stall with the ball in his hands. If his shot's not there, he swings the ball quick. He doesn't force drives or backdowns like Saddiq. When Saddiq gets the ball, way too often he loves to pumpfake, sit on the ball, then force a drive. Even when he's open. He's also gotten lost in the shuffle with the starters too because Ivey and Bogey are much more assertive and aggressive.

  12. I don't think Cade is uninterested. I just don't think he knows how or is good enough to lift a poorly constructed team with a bad coach. His instinct his entire basketball life is to make other players around him better. But when we you have a coach who doesn't know how to build an offense and a center who can't finish in traffic, you are handicapping him. Add to that the fact he is not a very good shooter at this point and an average athlete and you have a confluence of issues that are making him look like a bad #1 overall pick. I agree with your other takes. This team is not fun to watch and Casey is not the right coach to develop the young players.

  14. Hopefully we transform into the 96-97 Pistons when playing on the teal court.
