Here is a really interesting thread on how arbitration is done and how teams and players represent themselves.2 points

In late `97/early `98, I was working as a manager at a BK, in between radio gigs. On Friday, January 2nd they were rolling out a new french fry - they called it "Free Fry Day". My boss says "Before you leave tonight, we need to have all of those fry vats emptied, cleaned, & refilled with fresh grease for tomorrow." Being that it was New Year's Day, & Michigan was playing for a national championship, I was the only non-teenager working - so I had to do all of the work myself. I got it all done - save the last big block of shortening, which had to only be put into the fryer & we could all go home. I had a teenager open the box, dump it in the vat. He neglected to check it first - There was a piece of the cardboard box stuck in the shortening - which then caught all 3 vats on fire. & you could put it out by putting the tops on, because the shortening was sticking up out of the vat. So I had to get the fire extinguisher out - put it all out - drain them all again ... & then do it myself.1 point

Lions have plenty of cap space. Brockers is gone. Cutting Okwara and Harris would create $11 million. Cutting Vaitai would create nearly $6 million and we haven't even gotten to a Goff restructure which could create another $12 million. These moves without a Goff restructure would give the Lions about $41 million in cap space. Add a Goff restructure and you're looking at $53 million. Ragnow is another restructure candidate. Can create $8 million in space. The salary cap isn't going to stop the Lions from signing who they want. Even if they had the cap space of the Bears, I don't think they would be signing a ton of players.1 point

Looks like a Pinewood Derby car I carved 60 years ago and came in last in.1 point

poetic justice would be for all of okc's stars to get hurt now, since when theyre not winning they always make them sit for this part of the season.1 point

I was foreman on the jury I served on. I assume it was because in a room as diverse as the UN, I was the middle aged white guy in khaki's sitting at the head of the table.1 point

I had a conversation about this on Twitter. I pointed out Jacksonville has a homicide rate 4 times higher than New York. Their response was that Jacksonville has twice the land area. I was like land doesn't kill people. Their next response was that New York spends way more on policing than Jacksonville, so I was like oh it's Republicans defunding police and not liberals? Next response was you have been blocked.1 point

I left right as the rotisserie became a thing. Boston Market caused a shockwave to that industry. But a few months of that taught me how to tie and cut up a bird. I also lost about 15 pounds from eating that chicken along with the rice that was also new. I threw it all away by going to deliver pizzas.1 point

Your embarrassment should stem from referencing Pete Davidson.1 point

I think LBJ also consciously cultivated an 'old guy' look. If you got him out of those glasses he doesn't actually look too bad there for a guy from a sunny climate. The other thing is the big ears. Ears grow throughout your life so if you are born with large ones to begin with, you automatically look older than average.1 point

Yes. You drain it into the contraption then hose it back in, running it thru the filter. We would drain it every few days into these massive steel “buckets” that would weigh about 40 pounds. Grab some towels and carefully carry out to the grease bin. Those were the general deep dryers. Done once a day. The high pressure ones for original recipe would be filtered every cycle. Drain it. Scrape off the sides to get rid of the goop. Filter it back up. And yeah every so often you had to scoop out some or the “cracklings” as we called it and give it to the gravy person. That was the crap left behind by filtering. The mashed potatoes and gravy was usually made by a 14 year old who could only work 3-4 hours. pretty sure we weren’t supposed to be doing some of this stuff at the ages of 16-17.1 point

I get tense because people here are bad drivers to begin with and can barely drive in rain, let alone snow.1 point

I liked Pete Franklin too. He was one of the first of those kind of sports talk show hosts. It was funny when he did it. Now, that kind of thing has gotten really old and common place.1 point

TFG is in East Palestine, OH today armed with a sleeve or two of paper towels to help with the cleanup effort. Of course he'll be too busy thinking up dumb nicknames to explain why his administration spent 4 years rolling back rail safety and EPA regulations..1 point

He’s undraftable at this point. Maybe things become clearer and he’s exonerated but the story seems to be moving in the opposite direction. At this point, it sure looks like he was an accomplice to a Murder and Alabama, Nate Oats, and Tuscaloosa PD covered it up to keep their dream season alive.1 point

My company sends out phishing tests and if you fail, then you are put on a list for potentail training. If you pass, you don't. The way you pass is 1) don't open it, 2) they give us a method to report a phish attempt. It's also a good way to get out of some stuff. A few times I would say "Sorry, didn't see that, I thought it was a phishing attempt"1 point

Hockenson's production went up after he left Detroit. In Minnesota Hockenson was averaging nearly 2.5 more targets per game. He was on pace for over 100 catches with Minnesota. If the Lions were going to take a TE in the upper rounds, they would have just kept Hockenson and used him the way Minnesota did.1 point

February. This is the 3rd year in a row that I've developed a nagging cough in February. Last year, it lasted 6 weeks - went away when I got Covid - & then came back for another 2-3 weeks. It's absolutely exhausting0 points
