Back in the days when I golfed a bit, I had a friend who hit a low line drive off the tee and took out a bird (it wasn't a goose, probably closer to a starling or mocking bird that inhabited the course) After his shot he turned to his partner. "I told you I'd get a birdie on this hole"5 points

This is amusing...the obscurity of the Svalbard seed bank part, not the rest of it which is pretty pedestrian.2 points

As I've said before, for as in the tank as he seems to be for the Russian regime, I hope he's being well compensated for it.... it'd be pitiful otherwise.1 point

I'm not convinced that Caitlin didn't do that simply for publicity. It's extreme, I know, but wealth and fame can do that to a person.1 point

Hopefully...Jose De La Cruz can continue his early success at Lakeland...he hasn't lived up to his billing as a big $$$ international signing, but he's still only 211 point

Three of the five guys Miami closed the game with tonight were not drafted. Strus, Martin, and Vincent all came into the league as free agents. I assume Butler and Bam were the other two on the floor (I didn't watch). So that would mean of the 5 guys Bam was the highest draft pick at #14. Butler at #30 and the other three not drafted. Crazy.1 point

Exactly the sort of thing you do to prove you destroyed a Patriot Battery or whatever else the Orcs are claiming That's some Darth Vader level evil. Didn't the same exact thing happen in Rogue One?1 point

It may have been a misreading of Paredes' talent, but I don't think it was a panic move I get the feeling the Tigers didn't regard Paredes highly for whatever reason. He seemed ready to be given a major league opportunity and they seemed reluctant to give it to him. I don't think Meadows power was clearly on the decline since he hit for pretty good power in 2021. I would have been very happy with 27 home runs from him again in 20221 point

What you quoted has nothing to do with bump stocks. I am speaking specifically about muzzle velocity and it's relationship to "battlefield" or "sonic" damage. Also called "stress cavity" as a result of the shock wave from the bullet. You disputed this (different conversation that we had a month or two ago...); let me know when you catch up here... Such a big difference that there were ONLY 500 casualties in Las Vegas. From ONE MAN/ shooter! Congratulations. 😖1 point

There’s no way to actually know, maybe unless you could somehow OOTP it out, but I feel that Paredes would have done better under Hinch/Harris than under Grifol/Avila. I didn’t love the trade at the time because I thought Paredes was better than Meadows straight up so it was a lot to give up, but I also thought it was defensible based on where we were and what we were trying to do coming into the 2022 season. We all thought we were on the brink of contending, and it seemed like we needed Meadows more in left than we needed Paredes at third. But now it’s been almost a year and a half and with Paredes getting comfortable and heating up for Tampa whereas Meadows may literally never play again, we are already losing the trade by a substantial margin, and I can’t envision any scenario in which that flips around and we end up winning or even tying it. I wonder if Tampa locks up Paredes for cheap at some point, like a 7/70 deal or something.1 point

Thought the trade made sense at the time, so no point in creating an alternate history where that wasn't the case. Either way, as Randy suggests, I have zero confidence that he'd be doing this well if he were still a Tiger. So to the extent that I care, I'm glad he ended up somewhere where he could succeed1 point
