Monty is putting on a masterclass in how to get the bag and then go home to watch tv from your couch. This will be the third big name coach that Gores has hired only to watch them be even worse than everyone said they were when they got fired from their last job. Maybe one of the few things Weaver got right was to disagree with Gores about hiring Williams. Ivey the 11th man. Rolling out a lineup up of Sasser, Burks, Thompson, Livers, and Wiseman to immediately lose a 7 pt lead. Starting Stew and Hayes. Taking two months to realize Cade needs spacing. Taking an 18 game losing streak to say he needs to shorten the rotation and find time for Ivey. Never changing the defense when we're absolutely getting rolled by a single player. Never running an out-of-timeout or out-of-bounds play that works. Never running anything resembling an offense in the 4th quarter. Monty has already lost the locker room and we're not even a quarter of the way into the season. I knew he was just Casey 2.0 when we hired him. I wanted Udoka or Quinn, but I never thought it would be quite this bad. I'm not absolving Weaver here. This roster has been an abomination for 4 years, especially after all the offseason talk about wanting to win and then signing just Joe Harris and Monte Morris. No wings, no backup Center, and not a single 3 and D player to speak of. And now Duren is hurt (again) and it looks bad. That's the third ankle injury for him this season and he had them last year too. Someone get this kid some high tops, or tape his ankles, or get him some braces or something. Can't wait to hear JEIII say something like, "Let's wait until Duren comes back so we can evaluate this team."2 points

Making the team better through player transactions is part of his job, so it's logical to think it could have been his fault. That is not part of Rodriguez's job.2 points

Reading Ian Toll's very good WWII in the Pacific series. Today being December 7 reminds me that the wartime leaders of Japan manipulated their people using what they claimed was in Shinto and in Bushido to conduct suicide attacks. Toll points out that the concept of suicide attacks was never in their tradition. It was only after they lost their advantage in air power and the US industrial might was producing naval, air and ground forces far surpassing by leaps and bounds the Japanese military that they cynically rewrote their traditions and convinced everyone to go along with suicide attacks. Since the people were completely cowed by propaganda and total surveillance of their every word and the military had taken over the lives of their children there was no way to resist -- even among military officers who knew it was all bunk. This gets me back to the original point about theocracy being in harness to kleptocracy.2 points

One of my favorite lines fits this team The Pistons are four players away from being four players away.2 points

fontes was awful. they had an identity with barry and the run and shoot and then he changed them to a two tight end team overnight. he lobbied for andre freaking ware. pat swilling. every mistake the lions ever made in that time was because of that moron. he went into philly for the playoffs against an 8-8 philly team led by RODNEY PEETE and got obliterated. fontes was a clown, not a football coach.2 points

I’m not saying Holmes likes injured players. What a weird fetish that would be. I said he bets on injured players which is exactly what you said. I just happen to think it is delusional to assume that there is zero risk in buying low. If there was zero risk, you wouldn’t be able to buy low. Holmes wants to buy low. It’s fine as a strategy and he might end up winning more than he loses. But his account is in the red at this moment.1 point

What a season this kid is having. He's starting to get work in with Kronwall (and Lidstrom?) and while he's smaller there's a lot to be excited about from his combine numbers: https://www.dkpittsburghsports.com/2023/06/12/axel-sandin-pellikka-nhl-draft-penguins-prospect-defensemen-scouting-combine-tlh This could be a huge home run of a pick, I am cautiously optimistic1 point

He is one of the Wings prospects who will be at the WJC (USA). ASP and Johannson for Sweden, Bicker for Germany and Danielson for Canada as well.1 point

I feel for the 25 and under group that have experienced nothing but misery. I'm in your age group and am lucky to have witnessed not one but two Championship eras so in a way we've been spoiled because most fanbases never get to experience that. The Pistons from roughly 1986-2010 were a top 5 NBA franchise. Seems like so long ago now.1 point

I feel bad for the kids. I was in middle/high school when the Bad Boys won. Nothing better than going into school the day after a big playoff win and talking about it with your buddies at school. A few months after getting my drivers license, my first big driving adventure was taking my friends down to The Palace for the ceremony after one of the parades. A high school kid today has never seen the Pistons win a title. But wait, there's more! For 3 easy payments of $29.99 you can also get 0 playoff series wins in their lifetime. And for a limited time we will throw in at no extra charge...0 playoff game won! No wonder people watch soccer.1 point

those guys were coaches more than 50 years ago. he was talking about the last 50 years. anything over 50 and those guys and joe schmidt would be on the list.1 point

5-- Eduardo so wanted to be out of detroit that he screwed us over at the deadline knowing we'd be screwed with no other deal in place. Then he'd just leave and have no prospect for his most-hated team so we never get back to the playoffs. Bitter KL2 buys that theory.1 point

Eduardo Rodriguez owes nothing to fans. It sucks that we didn't get our prospects, but he did what he felt was right for himself which is what most (if not all) of us would do when deciding where to work and how much money we make. If I was going to blame anyone it might be Harris. Maybe, he could have figured something out earlier, but I don't know that he didn't try so I don't blame him either.1 point

Dude had a triple double in the 1st half tonight. Pretty sure it is in the FCC bylaws you can drop F-Bombs if you get a TD in the first half.1 point

The glass half full side if we were to win the lottery is that people said alot of the same things about the 2020 draft and you could argue that Edwards and Haliburton may be better than anybody from the 2019-2023 drafts so who knows....of course I can't say that I trust Weaver to find that guy(s) if there is somebody like that in this class.1 point

When I was a teenager and just moved to NE Indiana from Michigan. My Dad called a satellite provider and ordered one of those massive dishes you would see back in the 90's. He wanted Pass so we could watch Detroit sports. My part of the deal was I had to trench and bury cable from dish to the house. It was a 150' run. Long story short the day I got it finished the installer came to activate the dish. That night was Tigers opening day on the road in Toronto if I am not mistaken. Turned on the pregame and sat down to watch after all my hard work! Clock struck 7PM and the screen went black and read "Black out in your area". I was never so distraught....0 points
