One game shy of the 1/3 mark of the season, the Tigers are one game under .500 at 26-27, with an even run differential. 13-14 at home and 13-13 on the road. 5-5 in past 10. That's as middle of the road as can be, and pretty much what was expected of them. It's the Cleveland and KC starts that has disrupted the outlook though.2 points

Man, what a gift to Mize who had bases loaded and no outs and gets out of it unscathed because of the Vogelbach line drive/Bichette baserunning screwup. Was Spork out of position on that third out? It was definitely Ibanez’s ball, you know, being hit practically right to him and all. Good PFP instinct by Mize because that had a high chance of going wrong.2 points

Lynn Graduated from MSU 2 years before I did. Give him a break, he's used to writing on papyrus after all.2 points

Agree. Maybe if they’re giving one or the other a day off, but not both for the same game. Plus somehow the MLB schedulebot overrode human intervention to give the Tigers a day off tomorrow, a holiday off day. Nice work, MLB. And absolutely no reason to have both Rogers and Kelly in the starting lineup right now. That’s grounds for malpractice.2 points

Watching all of these "role players" stepping up night after night makes me wanna slap Weaver.2 points

Some of you may not be familiar with pro wrestling commentator Gordon Solie. Gordon was a legend here in Florida. Anytime multiple wrestlers were involved in a fight, Gordon would describe the action as a Pier Six brawl. Today, the Tigers won a Pier Six brawl against the Blue Jays.1 point

The wiffle ball just wasn't fluttering around too much, and the batters switched from the thinner yellow bat to the big fat red bat.1 point

Just caught the box score, traveling today. Were the last couple of innings a slow pitch softball competition?1 point

Or Hinch intentionally neglected to tell them to get outs because what he really wants is for the Tigers to lose. Million-D chess.1 point

It’s affecting me. Seems like it should be about 4pm already. 😆1 point

Not exactly a showcase of pitching today.1 point

So that's why...you stopped watching! You should be reported! 😅1 point

Does Hinch even know how hard it is for pinch hitters to come off the bench cold and have success? The reason we remember any success is because it's so rare. We need a manager who doesn't think he's smarter than anyone else. Put away that calculator and watch the game!1 point

He wasn’t in a normal close situation. He was in an AJ trying to get his perfect matchup situation1 point

I don’t mind this early exit today. I think they need to be cognizant of his workload the past two seasons coming into this season. A day off tomorrow, so whatever bullpen arms are available, none of them need to be saved for tomorrow.1 point

Jake Rogers made that fourth run happen by recognizing there was no way that bloop gets caught, and then he has a great slide to get in. Arguably the best offensive moment of his career.1 point

If Carson Kelly at DH hitting fifth is your counter to a lefty starter, leave it on the spreadsheet.1 point

I align with Hinch's philosophy. You use your best reliever in the highest leverage situation. If you can't get 3 outs later, you probably don't have enough guys...That's the Tigers current problem. Lange has been exiled, Chafin is up and down, Wentz and Faedo have both been roughed up recently. Even Foley has been less effective with the velocity coming down. There aren't any perfect choices.1 point

the whole psychology and habit around closing is just that, psychology and habit. Jim Leyland showed us in '06 that using your best reliever when the leverage was highest should be the way to go, but the habits formed in baseball culture, which includes the fans, the press, management and even the players, all pressure teams to have closers. It make very little actual sense statistically or tactically. Even the argument that the 9th is somehow harder to pitch is only true because players have come to believe it.1 point

That's what's nice about cooperative education and/or internships. You get experience, and are able to help pay for school with the salary you make. It also helps you figure out pretty quickly whether or not you'll be at least recently happy with the path you chose.1 point

College is such a scam these days. Society says you will be a failure unless you attened a four year school. Not only do you walk away with huge student loan chances are you will not use your degree for your career. How many classes are you forced to take that have zero impact on your degree of study? Trade schools have a much lower cost. My kids HS offers an apprenticeship that you start as a Jr. and graduate with a Ass. degree with ZERO debt. His buddy who he plays baseball with is a senior and already has a job lined up in June working with Plumbers Steam Fitters Union starting pay? 27.50 an hour day 1 out of HS. We met with the director of this program and they said there are over 100 open positions just in this area for that exact job. My wife, a nurse got her bachelor's degree and her hospital reimbursed schooling costs, she had to stay there for three years to qualify after graduating but paid in full. She is now licensed to work in any ICU in the world. Go to college get a degree but make sure there is a market for your talents.1 point

My Dad loved ice cream and coffee. When he was in the hospital with a heart attack at the age of 96 we asked a nurse if he could get a little of each, which he wasn’t supposed to have. The nurse (so many wonderful ones out there) went to the staff fridge/breakroom and got him a small helping of each. Had to take the oxygen mask off for it, but he enjoyed that little treat. He died a few weeks later.1 point
