  1. You can't throw that lefthanded 80 mph sh*t to Jake Rogers

  2. I don't buy it. If they keep aiming for some point out in the future then have fun being the A's, you'll never get there.

  3. He was very good on the radio a week or so ago. Why can’t he bring that same style to TV?

  6. 10-0 lead. Gonna need more runs with a gas can like Skubal pitching.

  7. He should play 120 games, hit .240 with 20 home runs, and make the All Star team. But unfortunately, he isn't allowed to play that often. It's a mystery.

  8. He's from the future. But only about 3 minutes into the future, but that's enough for online sports betting.

  12. Let me restate one thing... where I'm talking about "useful hitters": Harris has to identify the superstars for the next Tigers playoff team. Whether that's Greene, Clark, Jobe, Skubal... whomever. I don't think a team has a real chance if they are entirely built of platoon players. So yes... some amazing pitchers and hitters. But also, the entire team won't consist of amazing pitchers and hitters, from top to bottom because... well, that's just a little bit hard to do. So, outside of whatever stars we can add to this team... Harris will ALSO need to be able to find all the: "Useful hitters" and "useful pitchers" that flesh out a complete team. They are needed. I don't get the badmouthing of Vierling because he's a 4th OF'er. That is still needed on a playoff contending team. So why say anything about Vierling... except that he's a useful player/ useful bat. He's not the problem. He's doing his job and he's doing a fine job. It's the OTHER problems on this team, the "weak links", that need to be rectified. IMO.

  14. But you will always see this kind of mistake when players are playing next to guys they are unfamiliar with, don't know their voices, their calls, their tendencies. Of course Keith should have yielded, but do we think he ran into Baddoo on purpose to cause an error? The situation overran his ability to process it because they had never had adequate time to learn each other. This is unavoidable to some degree, everyone is unfamiliar with the other guy at first, but the more you move guys around arbitrarily the more you increase these risks. Players that play together regularly get over these kinds of mistakes. Keith hasn't even played 80 games yet and he's had 8 different RF's behind him whose ranges and styles he has to learn and keep straight. In fact in that play, Ushella is also going out and Keith has priority over Gio in that situation, so may be thinks he is hearing Gio - who he also has not played next to much, and thinks he is rightfully trying to call him off? Baddoo also has a history of colliding with his fellow OF's so I wonder if he just isn't loud enough.

  16. If that's what he wants do, then move forward. We don't need a gm who is waiting around for a future that doesn't exist. But If he can build a contender out of existing pieces, do that...you have to pick a lane. There really isn't a middle path.

  19. Why wasn't he playing first base in Toledo ? How much do coaches need to see in order to determine someone does not have the skill set to play a position. It's become an epidemic in Detroit. Still ongoing.

  20. I was more or less pleased with the first 6-7 weeks of the season. They were in every game and playing a lot of young guys. You could see the makings of a future contender. But now. Tork is in purgatory. Meadows and Lange have been banished there as well. Greene is in an extended slump. Carpenter is out indefinitely. Keith's burst of offensive production has fizzled. Perez, as expected, is fighting it. The bullpen is erratic, to put it kindly. Manning and Mize's growth has stalled. The defense has plummeted in just about every metric. It's hard to be optimistic, certainly about the rest of this season. And now who knows what to expect next year.

  21. In Chapmans case, with his swing and miss, I can see why teams passed on him.

  22. Sorry I'm so late to answer your question. The 3rd base coach has more than one thing to relay to the runner coming in as well as any other runner approaching 2nd. Unfortunately, he only has 2 hands. Generally, if the runner needs to slide, he will be using both hands to indicate a slide and to which side of the bag. If a slide is not necessary, the left hand will be raised to indicate a stop at third with or without rounding the bag. The right hand will be pointing to where the ball is or where it is heading. If there is a second runner heading toward second, often the coach will be looking at that runner to insure he is catching the signals he is giving. So, as you can see the 3rd base coach has multiple duties all at the same time. Hope this helped.

  23. Staffing. Worked for one of the bigger ones that is based in Michigan. The current CEO is gutting the company, and most of its US operations are being outsourced, department by department. My sister and girlfriend also worked there and were outsourced in December. Spent the last two months training my replacement in the Philippines, and it was going pretty poorly and they fired him a week before my last day. There’s going to be a lot of clients leaving due to this, and they are really going to regret doing this by saving money in the short term in the sake of service. I do have a severance that will get me through most of summer.

  24. So at the dinner-dance after our daughter's high school grad the other day they played Don't Stop Believin' and even Vancouver teens like to sing the South Detroit part. 16 years to the day since the Wings' won their last Cup, in '08. When my daughter had just turned 2. Bookends. I'm a sappy ol' dad ...
