The Tigers have never had a team like this - one that was not supposed to win and was pretty much out of it half way through the season and the came out of nowhere to be arguably the best team in baseball down the stretch. This is unprecedented.

They claim the reasoning of offering the “alternative” schools is to offset the “poor quality” public schools in some communities. What really happens is the communities that need really need the money to improve the quality of education get shafted when the school funds get moved around. Funny since the era the MAGA’s want to “return to” private schools, both religious and secular, were paid for by private funds.

I’m becoming glad Javier Baez was a bust, because had he succeeded out of the gate, Al Avila would still be around, we would still have the same coaching and development crew, our prospects would be stuck in neutral, Jonathan Schoop and Gregory Soto would still be playing for us, Tarik Skubal would have been traded to the Rays for two toolsy low A prospects, Jason Benetti would be doing play-by-play for the Twins, and I’d be working as an overnight janitor for a dollar store chain. Please don’t anybody break this snow globe.

My following the Tigers goes back to 1961. The 1967 squad has always had a soft spot in my heart because it was so so close, yet so far, losing it on the last day of the season. That team was supposed to be pretty good at the beginning of the season though. This team is unprecedented and is rapidly becoming my all-time favorite Tiger team.

This has been one of the most unique positive Tigers runs of my lifetime. 1984 35-5 will always be #1, but this run, after selling at the deadline has been a beautiful head scratcher.

I’m starting to feel a great and temporary love for the city of Cleveland. The only time I was really there was coming back from New York City during spring break in 1971 and I visited a friend’s family in Cleveland and we went to a bar and saw the then well-known band Dr. John the Nite Tripper. One young woman stripped her top off, and we all thought that this was not spontaneous and was probably done for effect and that the band arranged it. CLEVELAND ROCKS!

I remember the "good old days" when Tiger excitement was so high that we had to have special off day threads...good times.

Ok…. Realistically speaking, I think it is plausible that we take 2 of 3 from the O’s and Rays, then finish up with the sweep of the MLB doormat Sox for a 7-2 finish. With the Twins facing the O’s, BoSox and Marlins, I think 7-2 would get it done, although we may as well simply Win. Every. Game. just to be safe. Looking deeper, the Orioles *could* be in big trouble with series against us, the Yanks and Twins to close out the season. It’s going to be one heckuva 1.5 weeks. Go Tigers!

I got to meet Bob Feller on the practice fields in Tucson. You could walk on the warning track and say hi to Andre Thornton. And I did meet out of town Cleveland fans and honestly, they were very nice people. And it was sweet to see young rookie Indian players having picnics under a palm tree with their parents. I have a lot of happy memories of spring training and the Indians. Sat next to Joe Garagiola at a game. The girls who hung out trying to meet the players were unbelievable.

It’s so cute to hear other announcers for other American League teams talk about their own “Cy Young” candidates. Ha!

Ugh. Fine. Can’t believe we are trading away our entire 2023 left side of the infield for a guy with a broken finger though.

Arizona is pretty good on offense. Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. can be a handful. And Murray is scary when he scrambles. Maybe Hutch needs to introduce himself, up close and personal? 😅😅

I'd do this trade if the Raptors would use their time machine to include peak Vince Carter for the Pistons. I would be willing for the Pistons to use the time machine to include peak William Bedford heading back to Toronto. I might personally use the time machine to grab a Miller Genuine Draft, just for fun.

It would be roughly 5 more wins but it's not exact because of the randomness in baseball. That's what WAR is trying to estimate though, wins above replacement. A replacement level team would be expected to win 48 games so usually you need your players to total 40 to 50 WAR to get into the playoffs.

I started in 1967 and that double play finish made 1968 all the sweeter so nothing surpasses that though 1972 1987 1984 and the DD years were great. But this year is super special no matter the outcome.
