That scrolling FanDuel thing at the bottom of the screen with the odds on every arcane thing you could possibly bet on infuriates me.2 points

Dan&Dan talking about Torres leading off for the Tigers. I sort of doubt it. In NY he had Judge, Stanton and Soto behind him, with the Tigers he might be the #1 power threat rather than #4.1 point

This was a real concern during the Gemini spacewalks. Gemini IV was the first one and they had a hell of a time getting the hatch closed due to the suit pressurization. That was unexpected and the Russians had the same problem (they deflated Leonov's suit to a dangeous level) and of course they didn't share that info with us. Ed White was the strongest astronaut and if not for that they may not have gotten it. Then later on Gemini 9 for the next spacewalk, Deke Slayton pulled Tom Stafford aside and gave him the directive that if anything happens to Gene Cernan on his spacewalk he has to cut him loose. There's no way they could get a dead or incapacitated body back inside the capsule and close the hatch with just one person doing it, from the other side. Those capsules had two hatches, one for each person. Cernan did have a hard time on his walk as he did things White didn't. It was very exhausting. He would sweat and then the visor would ice over. He's using his oxygen. Comms were bad between him and the ship. He was very overheated and his heart rate got up to 195. He had to be ordered back in. All the things that seems like common sense now were being figured out. Like having footholds and bars to grab onto. They didn't know that. Otherwise, you touch something in zero G, then it pushes you away. You try to exert force and you just spin around (Think about sitting on a sit and spin as a kid, that's what it's like). Gravity is what allows you to open a jar of tomato sauce with your hands. Anyway.... in Stafford's book he said there was no way he would have done that, he would have fought it until the end and probably try to re-enter as best they could together knowing it was a suicide mission, rather than let two dead people and their ship orbit the earth. After the conversastion where he was told to cut him loose, Cernan asked Tom "What did Deke want?" "oh it's nothing"1 point

I don't get this one - seems like daylight madness, especially given that it's one of Trump's best demographics.1 point

It's not the Latin of course, it's that Vatican II was first stirring of reform of the absolutism (and patriarchy) the RCC. A tragically large % of the human race finds that being read rules is more comforting than having to make decisions for themselves.1 point

The Mars talk is Musk's grift. It's never going to happen. He always makes these promises and never delivers but it causes people to invest in SpaceX. It's like with Tesla. Full self driving was a year away, in 2016. He was going to have a million robotaxis on the streets by 2020. He's PT Barnum. Just smoke and mirrors to pump the stock.1 point

History shows that not doing anything usually is a pretty good offense for the minority party going into midterms. With all the chaos we're seeing now, it's tough to argue against that. But while we all agree what Trump is doing is idiotic, he's doing a lot less than he claims he's doing. Courts, so far, are ruling against him. Much of his executive orders appear to be more of a press release then any actual order. So if he boots Elon and embraces his first term of just golfing and not wanting his people to get in his way (meaning he doesn't empower them to act like the idiots they are) it's possible we get a soft landing on this and of course he's going to claim how amazing he was. So in my opinion, I somewhat embrace Carville's thoughts on not fighting the GOP on everything. Explain why you don't like what he's doing, but point out you don't have the votes. While doing that, spend your efforts making a case why government is important. Every time DOGE claims another 'win', dig into it. Find a sympathetic anecdotal story about someone effected by DOGE's "win". Tie every DOGE win with a hard working American whose life is now more difficult as a result.1 point

So, I have been extremely busy with work - Is Keith going back to 2nd base? - Javy will play more 3rd than Shortstop? - So where does Ibanez play vs. Lefties? - How bad is Keith at first? - Is Keith bound for DH duties, if Tork is back? - Who is playing Center? - Will there be a trade for another CF? If there is a significant trade does that mean the team does not expect Meadows to play for a long time? - What's up with Meadows? - How is Bonderman's change up looking?1 point

even the very lowest level of federal security clearances inquire and hammer you about illicit drug use and they have special parts in the application that say that includes weed even if it's legal in your state. So King Keta has been on the most popular podcast in the world smoking dope and now he's hearing the secret war plans with china it's not insightful to say there are and always have been different rules for rich people but maybe the injustice of it is motivating idk1 point

We haven’t heard much from the Cocaine Kid since Elon has gotten involved. I wonder if he feels left out or happy it gives him more time to blow his nose.1 point

I'm wary about King Ketamine getting the China war plan from King Adderall's Prince Booz.1 point

The argument you make is that economic things can break through the media marshmallow. No disagreement. The reason people think he's a business genius is because they had a soft filter about the first Trump administration because of the media being neutered despite the fact that he exacerbated Covid.1 point

Great interview. Thought Avila was very fair and self-reflective. And Tony Paul is the best Tiger Podcaster, IMO.1 point

I’m getting really tired of these crazy late game comebacks by the Pacers. Down 5 with 45 seconds and they still win.1 point

This is all correct, but I still think we need to consider the context in that people were sour about inflation and the economy, and it remains the biggest reason he won. And he's ****ing up daily on that front. It's important that Dems learn about what happened in 2024, but after that last eight years, I sometimes worry that we collectively spend way too much time analyzing the last battle versus preparing for the next one.1 point

hard to argue the signing have been the downfall, but even if the players on their way up through the system will improve them, they will still have trouble winning long term if the FO doesn't do a better job in the trade and FA areas. It's a three legged stool, draft/FA/Trades. The better you do at all three the better overall.1 point

Ironically, if the Lions would have beaten the worst team in the weak NFC South, they would have made the playoffs that year.0 points
