Neither were going to make 300 threes this year because Ivey's return will mean less shots, so that's not even a comparison that matters as you said. Regardless of that, it's an upgrade over Beasley for this coming year because Duncan gives you the same movement shooting and gravity while providing more in the other areas I've already mentioned - much better FT%, more size, better passing, higher IQ, better at moving off-ball, and a more efficient player. They're in the same tier of player, but Duncan is clearly the more complete player and size does matter in the NBA as well. I was so glad when the rumors about Schroeder leaving became reality. The fan base went into that Marvin Bagley and Simone Fontecchio world where they overvalue the contribution of a half-season rental because the alternatives (Sasser) were so bad. Let's be real about what Dennis was. He shot 30% from three and 37% from two, but that didn't stop him from chucking them up there. His eFG was a horrendous 44% and is 47% for his career. He's not a good defender although he flails around a lot to make him look like a try-hard. He's constantly exposed due to being a midget on the court. Not saying Lavert is a world-beater, but he has better size, shooting, defense, efficiency (crazy as that is to say), and shot creation. Would've been nice to get a backup 4, but anyone playing the backup PF minutes who isn't Fontecchio is going to be an upgrade, whether that's Holland, Ausar, or Stew.2 points

Bednar is the only one in that group who interests me. We need a #2 starter, not another #4/#5 starter. And Hayes doesn't interest me at all. I'm not all that keen on spending any prospect capital on hitting, but if I were to, he's the exact opposite of the prototype I'd be looking for.2 points

i don't know if any of you may get the emails too, but i got the survey link for 'fans at bat' about the all-star game. i made my (hateful) thoughts about the 'swing-off' known.2 points

I think the TV networks and gambling companies also have a say. The networks don't like things dragging on. They paid for something and the longer a game goes on the more it disrupts their operations and programming. So get the game over with. I believe it's a primary reason we got the pitch clock. A HR contest at the end presents all kinds of opportunities for wagers. Business is all about generating as much revenue and profit as possible. That's it. Every decision is made with that as the goal.2 points

I don't know whether you have HBO (or MAX or HBO MAX or whatever the heck it is), but I have just started watching the Ms. Magazine doc, and it's pretty good.1 point

Many white women are also brought up to believe they need to be protected, and that only white men can protect them. Or, they're taught that they have a limited role in life, and that they're either not supposed to or are incapable of doing anything else well. Or, in some cases they grew up in a wealthy family, and then married money-they don't feel personally affected by misogyny. And frankly, if they don't see it that means it doesn't exist. And... some women are committed to conservative values and see misogyny as something that can be eliminated over time (though how they expect that when they vote for certain candidates is a mystery to me).1 point

Bill Veeck did just that in 1951. He was the owner of the St. Louis Browns and handed out placards to the fan who in turn made the managerial Decisions for that one game.1 point

We're going to have a swing off in regular season games We're going to have the Magic At Bat - or whatever it's called, Golden At-Bat We'll probably have a game where fans get to make the moves for the managers, at least in an exhibition game. I don't mind changes, but some of them are ugly to me. But I'm Old Guy Yelling At Cloud1 point

Mitch Keller and Hayes do nothing for me regarding a playoff run. Bednar, sure he's signed through '27 and has a 12+ K/9. I'd probably trade Jung and Montalvo for him.1 point

It lost it for me when I went to a couple of UM games in recent years and the game was like a sideshow to all the unrelated media they were blasting at you for 4 hours - I used to like going to a football game to watch a football game, but at the game it has become almost an afterthought, any drama or momentum you might expect is a sporting event is deftly drained away but the commercial time-out official who is ultimate arbiter when anything can happen regardless of the game flow. It's been pretty much downhill from there. The truth is that big money ruins the value of most thing for most people. When you are under constant pressure to separate yourself from every dollar you possess, it's hard to have a good time and that's what big time sports has become across the board. But the operators have no choice, the system they've created is one where they don't survive if they don't keep taking every opportunity they can invent to separate an additional dime from a fan. </rant>1 point

It's like the episode of The Office when Michael started his own paper company and Charles Minor was manager. Charles took to Dwight instead of Jim. He wants Dwight to talk to Michael about taking a buyout and Dwight suggests using bees and Charles finally sees the light and asks Jim to do it instead.1 point

I don’t know where to put this, but this is an active thread. I just donated $25 + $1 for a transaction fee to keep Wikipedia free and out of the hands of fascist demagogues who have contempt for the free flow of information. This is one of those days where if you go to Wikipedia, they’ll ask for a donation of any kind, and I strongly suggest that you be generous. 1 point

If Dems created this Epstein list hoax to hurt Trump, why wouldn't Dems release the list? It's like when they said Dems rioted at the capitol to overturn the election they won.1 point
