  1. This sounds like an an example of someone who shouldn't own weapons.

  2. To the point about Matthew Dowd losing his gig, public commentary is almost compelled to whitewash or sanitize this aspect of Kirk's personality. Totally understand the idea of turning down the temperature and being the adults and all of that, but increasing irritated with this idea that we are supposed to tell lies about who he was, how he comported himself, etc.

  3. Charlie Kirk said a 'Patriot' should bail his attacker out of jail Political violence is bad, this shouldn't have happened. All of this is true. But it would be intellectually dishonest to not acknowledge the role that Kirk and his colleagues have played in what our society has become as well.

  4. We don't even know who did this yet given that Trump's handpicked FBI agent, who isn't qualified to run a Hardees let alone one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the US, has thus far been ****ing up the case. Nonetheless, the asymmetry in how the center left-to-left is expected to act in these moments and how the right gets to act in a moment of violence against the center left-to-left (see most recently the Hortman murders) is incredibly frustrating.

  5. I have seen fans complaining that the Tigers don't have a real chance in the playoffs because of their starters, but here they are with their #2 and #3 starters going and they are putting on a show against a playoff caliber team that was red hot. That's baseball. If things go well, they can succeed in the playoffs like any other team.

  6. I can’t imagine what it’s been like for him to go through life with that name. Lol. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that my team is going to pull one game out of this series and tonight’s the game. Although as in previous two nights, I won’t be watching the game after about the third ending anyway. So I’ll have to find out in the morning whether or not my prediction comes true. have a good night, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the game. 🙂

  7. They are already targeting these groups pretty intentionally. They are aren't rounding us up, but rather trying to attack our credibility and drain our resources.

  8. It doesn't have to be this way.... it isn't just inherent. Our leaders make choices that lead to the environment that we live in. The President of the United States had a choice when he sat behind the desk and gave that statement. There's nothing that could have prevented him from giving the address that literally any of his predecessors would have given in that situation. But he chose differently.

  9. I went to a concert at Pine Knob yesterday which meant I was occupied with getting ready and driving out there, etc. No time to really digest this. But my brief scrolling showed me lots of empathy and concern for someone who didn't do the same for others. He wasn't a nice person to people he disagreed with and in this situation those same people were nice to him and his family. I reject that in today's world "both sides are the same"

  18. I try to stay far away from political discussions, but apparently this was a Charlie Kirk quote: "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights" - Charlie Kirk, 2023 If that was his stance, then his own death was worth it to himself. As I see it, the killing of my friend Brian (estrepe1) was not worth it. I’d rather have very tight gun control and have my friend back, among many many others.

  19. he's way too low on buch and johannson. i think lane hutson could be a one year wonder. i know he scored a **** ton of points for a "defenseman" but there's a reason that's in quotes. try putting him in his own zone on face offs and stop sheltering him on every defensive possession. i'll take edvinsson over hutson. maybe that's me being a homer, but they treat hutson like he's karlsson 2.0. i'd take kasper over nazar too. kasper plays tough and is a lot bigger than nazar.

  20. That's kind of where I'm at with most prospect people honestly. It isn't a knock on them, it is just almost impossible to stay on top of every player by yourself. But it sure is fun to discuss prospects! I've just turned into a more wait and see mode over the last couple of years instead of taking everything online as gospel.

  22. I have a Roku and it started dropping FanDuel too. It's the Fanduel app, it's absolutely horrible. No other app loses its connection. I have Anazon Prime, Hulu, Apple+, YouTube TV and Netflix that all play perfectly. Fanduel stinks...

  23. So, to address the comments that Bryce Underwood is a flight risk. Was his position on the team not secured by the intervention of the wife of the richest man in the World? I guess if another oligarch is a fan a different CFB team, its possible.

  30. the more i read pronman's stuff the less i think he knows. you cant possibly follow that many prospects in that many leagues and have any real idea how they are playing PLUS follow nhlers? nhl teams have multiple scouts for multiple levels, pronman is supposed to make us believe he follows all the major junior hockey leagues, the european leagues, the russian leagues, the ahl, and the nhl? gtfo. take his stuff with a mighty grain of salt.

  34. when a Registered Republican "shot" Trump in Bulter, PA, MAGA f***tards said "the left" was trying to kill him. it does not matter who killed Kirk (but 200 yards? sounds like a 2nd Amendment patriot to me), MAGA f***tards have already decided it is "the left" and any facts to the contrary will be fake news it is irrelevant if people celebrate this or condemn this; MAGA f***tards have their marching orders already

  35. The NBA press release mentions nothing about made shots, so nobody knows right now. https://www.nba.com/news/nbas-heave-rule-will-allow-deep-end-of-quarter-shots-without-hurting-shooting-percentages But this rule was tested in the G-League last year and a made shot was credited to the player. So I think we can assume that the same will be done for the NBA. https://gleague.nba.com/gleague-playing-rules

  36. Boy, I don't remember. They explained all of that when they implemented it in SL. I think they do and I think all end of quarter shots in the 4th also count, make or miss. I will try to find and post all of that in a minute.

  37. Remember how the right treated the two democrats that were shot in Minnesota? One of them dying? Then Trump saying he wouldn't call the governor because he was a wacko? Remember how the right joked about Pelosi's husband being attacked?

  38. A national news organization did the digging here. Where is the local media on this? Just toothless these days and the team uses access to keep them from digging around. This take somewhat inspired by doing some Epstein digging here and remembering it was a local reporter who blew the lid off and brought the story back to life.

  39. Here is the stat stability chart from fangraphs: https://library.fangraphs.com/principles/sample-size/ “Stabilization” Points for Offense Statistics: 60 PA: Strikeout rate 120 PA: Walk rate 240 PA: HBP rate 290 PA: Single rate 1610 PA: XBH rate 170 PA: HR rate 910 AB: AVG 460 PA: OBP 320 AB: SLG 160 AB: ISO 80 BIP: GB rate 80 BIP: FB rate 600 BIP: LD rate 50 FBs: HR per FB 820 BIP: BABIP As it stands right now, McGonigle has 185 PAs, 151 ABs, and 119 BIP in AA. So his BB%, K%, HR rate are all useful, and ISO is 9 AB away. We basically need to have 6X more ABs before BA has any meaning and 6.9X more BIP before BABIP would have any use. There is also the stats that correlate most to MLB performance: https://medium.com/the-sports-scientist/minor-league-stat-stickiness-hitters-cbb694a11282 Hint, it's K% and BB%, followed by home run rate. It's really simple, given the small sample sizes here, there are only a few stats that have any value in looking at, and those are all the stats that McGonigle is absolutely elite in. Comparing McGonigle in A vs AA: BB%: 13.5 vs 16.8% K%: 11.2% vs 11.9% ISO: .277 vs .278 HR rate: 1 per 20.71 ABs vs 1 per 15.1 ABs McGonigle's performance in AA is superior to his performance in A ball when looking at the stats that have actually reached stability and have some use, and those stats are also the stats that are most relevant to look at when projecting forward. BA and BABIP will never have a sample size large enough in the minors because it takes almost 2 whole seasons worth of data to have any use whatsoever. McGonigle is not being challenged in AA, and he won't be challenged in AAA either. The jump from AA to AAA is not that big for somebody who is so far ahead of the AA level that he's posting numbers like this. There is no question that McGonigle is too good for minor league pitching, the only question is how he will handle to the jump to the majors. There's only one way to find that out, and we will find that out shortly, not a year from now.
