When Torkelson fielded the ball, I thought he was just for the lead runner. But his throw was placed perfectly enough and he had the wherewithal to get back to the bag. It didn’t seem like he had enough on his throw to lead to a double play, but Baez’ return was on the target and with appropriate speed. That’s as good of a 3-6-3 as you’ll see.
We can’t tell. We can only speculate. But I would bet Torkelson’s mindset this season is in a much, much better place than last season. The physical, tangent, numerical offensive results are there. But the defensive eye test is there, too. So fun to see that.
