I was originally critical of the play in games. I wasn't all that worried about the 9th and 10th best records. But this season in the West is kind of suited for it. 6th through 10th are separated by only 3 games and all are at least a few games over .500.

If Weaver hasn’t been fired by now, what are they waiting for. I can understand a theory for keeping Williams around. I don’t like it. But he’s been around for only one season. Weaver has his hands all over the worst stretch of the franchise. It’s been worse than “trust the process” which included intentionally hitting rock bottom. Sure, the Pistons are doing that now, and probably did so to an extent last season. But the direction of the franchise isn’t inspiring at all.

Do the Tigers have any bats from good hitters of the past? Especially from the early to mid 90s like Whitaker, Trammell, Fryman, Phillips, Tettleton? Chop a couple up into seed like sizes and plant them. Maybe with the rain and some sunshine later on they'll be harvestable in a couple of months.

I heard this mentioned from Trevor Plouffe (I think) in regards to the baseball. I hadn’t thought of this aspect of “deadening” the baseball, actually taking out the hardness to help the grip. And maybe it’s a well known theory that I just didn’t realize myself. But the grip on the baseball might be contributing to injury as well. The harder the baseball, the tougher it is to grip, the harder a pitcher is going to have hold the baseball. So, following his theory, the pretacked baseball is easier to grip, and should reduce injury.
