  1. Further hampering the Padres are the no trade clauses that seem to be present in the higher dollar longer term contracts. Some of those are full no trades, some are partial lists. They may not necessarily be immovable, but it just adds to the complexity.
  2. Is MLB looking to add time in between innings, ie, commercial time, anf this will offset that? Anyone notice how NCAA games still go long despite the revamped running clock? Anyone notice how numerous and long commercial breaks are? Any adjustments made to that?
  3. This was in the 1st 2 minutes of the 1st quarter. He needs a substantial suspension. And given that he could have really caused harm to another player, it kind of takes away some of the power of the players' association to push back against a suspension.
  4. Oh, I don't have an aversion to trading Keith or Jung away. I understand not wanting to block prospects. But if they could bring in Kim and go with 2 of Kim/Jung/Keith at 2B & 3B while the other remains in the minors or is traded away for a quality return, I think that's something to consider.
  5. Stavenhagen mentioned that he voted for Rodriguez based on performance. He also mentioned there really aren't any guidelines to base your vote upon. It doesn't specify strictly on field (best pure player, or output vs expectation, etc) and there's nothing to suggest how off field variables should be taken into consideration. Edit to add: Stavenhagen mentioned he voted Rodriguez 1st and Carpenter 2nd, if I remember it correctly.
  6. I don't think so. Take on Carpenter's $5.5M player option for 2024 (which they can dump) along with Kim ($8M). Where does that get it? Does this get it to along the "prospect" lines of what they acquired Canha for? I would think Kim at $8M + $5.5M is more valuable than Canha at $11.5M, but not valuable enough to where it would cost either of Keith or Jung. I may be wrong about that, I don't know.
  7. As court rules Oregon State, Washington State have full control of Pac-12, teams explore 2024 schedule options Sounds interesting. Will they go back to a North-South divisional arrangement?
  8. I don't know. I think it might be more worrying if he were unhealthy again/still. Because if he can't stay healthy and be available, his shooting from the bench in street clothes doesn't matter.
  9. I chose to watch Toledo at Bowling Green football over this playoff game. I believe I chose wisely.
  10. Maybe, I guess. I mostly crapped and napped back then.
  11. Basketball and hockey are probably not the sports to be calling as an announcer gets beyond retirement age. Shep has done Piston games in the past. Would he slide into the chair?
  12. Back to back seasons of undefeated vs undefeated going into it. What a time to be alive.
  13. I hate you because I cannot unsee/unhear this now.
  14. Padres Owner Peter Seidler Passes Away
  15. Speaking of Blaha, he and Kelser first broadcast a game together on one of this past weekend dates in 1988. Maybe it was Nov 12, 1988? Anyway, they had audio/video of a bit of that pregame from way back when during Sunday's broadcast. The years have added wrinkles and taken away hair, but they both sound pretty much the same in cadence & delivery.
  16. How the hell can anyone be a fence sitter with this asshole? You either realize what a waste of oxygen he is, or you're an idiot.
  17. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/top-25-offseason-trade-candidates.html There's Ha-Seong Kim. Go get him, Harris!
  18. Why were there multiple amateur drafts in a year? Wait, hold on..... A draft for free agents?
  19. Well, comets are made of ice, so, yeah.
  20. Tres bien.
  21. I think I'd probably kill time on a sports message board ranting and raving like I know stuff even though I don't really know half of what I think I know.
  22. Stupid MLB. Winter doesn't start until the week after that.
  23. That could be it, I don't know. But it seems a stretch that reduced pressure alone would drive his 5.0 BB9 to 3.3 while his SO9 remains intact.
  24. He's a young uber athlete with a decent form at the line. How much was shooting prioritized in his formative years? Did he have to rely on it much at all, or was he primarily a slasher driving to the hoop? Maybe optimistic isn't the right word to use. Maybe patience is a better descriptor.
