Dude, you better keep quiet. People are going to suggest moving the annual rule V party from Liston's place to yours.

Promoting Malloy this season comes with a couple of questions. Is his defense ready yet? I think I recall hearing questions about it. Can he improve it this season? It would seem his offense is ready given his slash lines and his BB/SO. I understand looking at the overall value of the player and everybody has pros and cons. But are there defensive lessons to learn yet. He's not on the 40 man roster yet. This season isn't going to yield a playoff run. Is it wise to waste a season of control now when it isn't going to go towards the playoffs? He just turned 23 years old in Lakeland. Given the above mentioned defense and the 2023 team outlook, I'd rather have his 2029 season (or whatever the last arbitration season would be) in hand than lose it for 2023. And, sure, if he proves to be what he seems to be once he is in MLB, the Tigers could always throw a long term deal at him early to keep his prime years under control. But, damn, does that future look bright, doesn't it? The early return suggests Harris should be arrested for stealing Malloy in return of a season of Joe Jimenez (and his inconsistent baseball card). You look at Malloy's "dominating the strike zone" type of numbers, his consistency from level to level and from season to season. It just seems silly to me that this trade happened.

I don't know. Baez can't keep half of his throws to 1B out of the dirt, so I can appreciate Betts throwing on the run & jumping up off of the base.

Sounds like that could be toasty in June/July. Then again, it ain't like the current stadium in Oakland is a perfect playpen anyway. Gotta be safe to say that we'll never see another MLB team in Oakland, right? The Giants will claim the territory and point to the Athletics' recent attendance if Oakland comes in future relocation/expansion talks. Its funny how these things work out. A couple of decades ago, the Giants were rumored to be moving to Tampa. Oakland would have had the Bay Area to itself.

Sure. And I probably framed up my discussion around Maton a little too much and ignored Vierling and Sands. They had skills that were sought after as well. -

Yup. I'm not suggesting my theory is what happened or that your theory isn't accurate or anything like that. I just don't know that one move was dependent upon the other. I do think we have learned over one offseason of Harris is that he isn't afraid to have multiple options at the disposal of the club at the MLB/AAA levels. -

I don't know. Was the Soto trade made to fill 3B (sort of) or was it made to move Soto for some pieces that might be useful (Maton being one who has played mostly SS but also has played other IF)? Candelario was let go in mid November. Maton was traded for in early January. Ibanez and Nevin were acquired before Maton. Malloy was, too, but I doubt he was considered for MLB action. I guess what I am getting at is that I don't think retaining Candelario would have prevented or necessarily dissuaded Maton as part of a Soto deal. Maton could have been used at 2B with Candelario at 3B. We've seen Maton at 2B with Nevin at 3B. Soto has proven control issues. Maton has an eye for OBP outside of AVG. I think trading away a player like Soto and trading for a player like Maton fits into Harris' desire for controlling the strike zone. -
There aren't many houses close to the trails that I use. Kind of thinking through it, the houses that are close are within a village township area where the trails are used more frequently, so that kind of foot/bike traffic on the trail shouldn't be a surprise.

Well, I am middle aged, doughy, and white, so that might at least get me a warning.

These stories have me questioning one of my bike routes that I take. Its a rails to trails blacktop trail, yellow stripe down the middle, mileage markers, signage when crossing vehicle roads, etc. Its hard to think that it is not a public space. But it also butts up against plenty of private properties, a few of which are noted as such. I've never considered venturing off of the trail and onto someone's domain. But, who knows, I have two wheels and a brightly colored bike helmet, so that might scare someone. And I would have no chance to defend myself, I'm only packing a water bottle, phone, and earbuds.
