  1. True so far. True specific to the game.
  2. Maybe that's I am drooling.
  3. Why did he stop running the organization after 2021?
  4. Last year the arm barn had chicken breast and Miracle Whip and celery. This year its chicken crap and Elmer's glue and packing peanuts.
  5. Disagree specifically with this game. I think Hinch has to have a pulse and go with Foley & Lang for more than a dozen pitches each to finish out the game. Not sure anyone else in the bullpen can be trusted at this point. Maybe Shreve. But, this team is in a 2-10 funk. Maybe you have to get out of the inning/reliever box in order to take a game. If it means neither are available for tomorrow, so what. Win this game tonight. Tomorrow might not call for closers anyway. But you're right on the larger point. They gambled that this group could be salvaged by Fetter and it just isn't working right now. I'm happy with the Jimenez & Soto trades, I think those were beneficial going forward. But as was mentioned elsewhere, there should have been some other moves made to backfill those roles (and Chafin's) from last season.
  6. Spoiler alert. They won't.
  7. Nobody has mentioned Hunch was here in 2003 yet?
  8. That's some good Avilametrics there.
  9. The other aspect is Paredes' development itself. Would he be best served in Tampa or Detroit? Which organization has been better at developing young players? Which situation would have been more amenable to his development?
  10. I'm not going to lie, I didn't complain about it. It seemed obvious that the Tigers had given up on Paredes, so yeah, you're right, if there's anything to complain about, its that the Tigers gave up on Paredes. Maybe they thought Candelario was going to be retained, I don't know.
  11. Actually, the pieces acquired for the last rebuild are still cheap and/or on short term deals, with the exception of Rodriguez and Baez. Getting rid of the pieces should actually be easy, whether its trade or just releasing or not renewing a contract. Yeah, I know, this theory is a rainbow scratch & sniff sticker on a turd.
  12. Thank goodness there's also trades and free agents to try to improve the team.
  13. I wonder if Harris would make that same trade. MeadowsA was certainly the more known quantity and the production he had shown would have certainly been helpful. Paredes seemed to be more of the "control the strike zone" kind of hitter that Harris speaks of, at least if you take a generic look at SO% and BB%. Regardless, the deal was made, here we are, where can Harris take it from here?
  14. Last season was probably the first where he struggled. That can be tough to process through the first time around. I would imagine between that, and lofty expectations, and his rookie status, a pair of hitting coaches that have since moved on, and a probably miserable clubhouse, yeah, that might have all contributed to a poor showing. And as has been mentioned, some of his numbers show a bit of bad luck in there, too.
  15. You don't believe it? You've never laughed so hard that you started crying?
  16. I'd like to see them make a run at it, but of course fall short.
  17. You bring up Fulmer and he signed late for $4M. I'd much rather have that than Cisnero at anything. For the 1,000th time, the Cisnero retention just makes no sense to me. He's not effective. I forgot about the Torkelson double. He maybe should have also had another double earlier in the game along the 3B line , but Chapman was able to knock it down for a single. It was a sharp one hopper. He continues to hit the ball hard. He had that 10 pitch AB later in the game. I think he'll be fine this season. Keep stinging the ball off of the bat. If the power numbers aren't there quite yet, OK, fine. Get the contact down and work on the elevation. Someone (maybe you?) mentioned Greene's SO numbers. That worries me a bit.
  18. Sure, its early. But check out these OPS+ numbers. Its just silly.
  19. I wonder if they overestimated what Fetter can do with this group. Manning was the first SP to go 6. Sure, it's early on and guys aren't going to be throwing 8 or 9 innings. But the gas can nature of the current arm barn gets overexposed when tasked with innings that SPs can't throw. The offense..... I just don't know. They had Manoah on the ropes and manage only one 3 run home run, although Carpenter was robbed of a solo home run. But leaving a bases loaded and one out opportunity in the top of the 2nd was crushing. And that was it. The Tigers only got another runner as far as 2B with two out in the 3rd.
  20. Detroit Tigers vs Toronto Blue Jays Watch: Blue Jays - SNET-1, TVA Sports 2, SNET NOW App, Tigers - Bally Sports Detroit, National - MLBN Listen: Blue Jays - SN590, Sportsnet.ca, Tigers - 97.1 The Ticket
  21. The lead was fun while it lasted.
  22. I always got a kick out of him jotting down notes of his previous plate appearance or whatever other thoughts came to mind. You didn’t see that very often, so it was kind of unique and refreshing. You see iPads all over the dugout now, but the actual note takimg was fun to see.
  23. Ok, quick inning there to keep the pitch count in check for Manning. Let’s see if the hitters can get a RP in this half inning.
  24. The Tigers are really working Manoah over, although Manoah is allowing it by not being sharp. Kind of a shame they only have 3 runs to show for it so far. But they’re going to get into the Toronto bullpen soon. I love digging into the opposing bullpen early in game one of a series.
