  1. And with some of the better pitchers heading to the WBC for a bit, he might see some inferior stuff for a bit longer. I’m not at all opposed to him making the team if he proves his worth. Somewhere along the line there’s going to be a tough decision to make. And if MeadowsP makes the team, it’s got to be at the expense of one of Carpenter/Baddoo, does it not? It’s likely not going to be MeadowsA/Greene. They can’t carry 5 LHH OFs, can they?
  2. His voice might be frail, but there’s usually context to what he’s saying.
  3. Speaking of bullets….
  4. So I wonder if the Tigers stay overnight in Fort Myers for their game tomorrow vs Boston? It’s a little over two hours one way from Fort Myers to Lakeland.
  5. Now that’s patently false. The Tigers don’t have enough base runners for Gibson to talk about secondary leads all that much.
  6. I don’t want the guy to hurt himself. But I also don’t want to see him poorly imitate a mirage of an inadequate DH this season.
  7. It’s a bit tangenty, but it’s better than Angry Jack talking about back in his day. And, yes, tangenty is a word.
  8. He looked good today. It’s only one game, but it’s encouraging.
  9. Agree. Ideally Torkleson earns 1B, Haase and Rogers handle the catching, Haaae finds time in LF vs LHPs, and Cabrera finds himself on the 60 so the Tigers can use that active roster spot for an actual contributing baseball player.
  10. Malloy looked like a legit 3B on a play. Runner on 2nd. Grounder to his glove side. Good diving catch, pop up, and accurate side arm to 1st for the out. After he releases the ball, the camera is on him long enough that you can see him moving towards 3rd for a possible return throw. It’s just a little thing, but given there are questions about his fielding acumen at 3rd, it’s an encouraging thing.
  11. Alright, so if Torkleson goes to Toledo, put Baez at 1B. That should cut down on the throwing errors. Right?
  12. I was pretty cautious about Rogers being in game shape after missing so much time. It just seems to me that catchers are so involved in the game, literally every pitch, that losing that kind of time could really set them back. And then when you factor in how Rogers had only a short amount of success at the MLB level, it just kind of gives me pause. But he certainly is having a day.
  13. Have the Tigers tried Haase at 1B this spring? It seems like a bit of an unknown for 1B if Torkelson does start the season in Toledo.
  14. On the other hand, Gallo made some contact.
  15. Of course, I had forgotten that option.
  16. The Twins’ feed is being broadcast by BSD today. That’s fine, it’s still Tiger baseball, and Jack Morris is not on the mic.
  17. Whoa, hold on, easy on throwing shade. He made one more 3 than the rest of us morans did combined.
  18. No Parker Meadows? Seems like a missed PR opportunity.
  19. You forgot the fielding error.
  20. Detroit Tigers vs Minnesota Twins Watch: Twins - Bally Sports North, Tigers - Bally Sports Detroit Listen: Twins - WCCO 830, The Wolf 102.9 FM, TIBN, Audacy
  21. Did Dickerson just say that Chris Fetter is warming up in the bullpen?
  22. Hey, 9 run deficit. Time to put Harold Castro in.
  23. Bobby Scales' BxFIP (broadcasting xFIP) is taking a hit today.
  24. There is one aspect of MLB on YTTV that was benefical. They were adept at extending games automatically that fell outside of the scheduled broadcast window if the game was delayed by weather and/or the game went into extra innings. But the way that YTTV just dumped FSD and kept the rates the same was very dissatisfying. Actually, I wonder if the rates actually increased around that time? I cannot recall that exactly, but I think that might have been the case.
  25. Ah, to be 10 years younger....
