  1. You say creative solutions. I think the actual baseball term is horseshit ideas. I think the conventional thought is that he returns for a final season. But we don’t know about Scott Harris, so there’s that. And like I said before, he may not have the final say on Cabrera regardless of what he would like to do anyway.
  2. Yup. Make him earn his spot on the roster in Lakeland. The cost is sunk. Its simply can he play or not.
  3. This seems very reasonable. I've long been a critic of Jimenez, but I think he's earned another season.
  4. I disagree that he's not blocking anyone. He's actually blocking anyone else that can field a position and/or run the bases.
  5. He's probably been close on several occasions over the last 6 decades. She asked how old he was, and my response was "chronologically or mileage?".
  6. I also wonder about this.
  7. So, the kid's marching band is doing a combo halftime show with the opponent's marching band and the local college band. They are doing Crazy Train. So I asked the kid if she knew who the original artist was, and of course, kids don't know diddly pooh, so no, she doesn't know. So I started showing her some tame & recent photos of Ozzy, and I got amusement out of her facial expressions of the visuals that I found for her. "He's a grandfather?!"
  8. Uh...... let's take it one day at time, aight?
  9. Soto must'of tuned into the game at 8-1.
  10. Are you new here?
  11. Is everyone aware of leap year? Yes? OK, good.
  12. Illinois, Purdue, and Nebraska control their own destiny in the West. Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State control their own destiny in the East. One group seems very unlike the other. Leaders and Legends probably would've worked out better than geography this season.
  13. Good stuff for Seattle. They eliminate the playoff drought, then advance to the ALDS with an historic come from behind victory. All of this, and they are still only guaranteed one home game. I bet those seat prices aren't expensive at all.
  14. The first "e" in "milestone" is silent when referring to Cabrera's contract extension. I remember that rule from Sister Mary Cichy's 3rd grade language arts class.
  15. Did Oklahoma get dressed and then forfeit on the field, or what exactly was that?
  16. Squared at 9 heading into the 9th in Toronto.
  17. But the milestones……
  18. I kinda hoped the Seattle vs Toronto game was completed before Tampa vs Cleveland.
  19. It’s entirely possible that Harris was hired with the stipulation that Cabrera stays on for 2023 unless it’s just a completely unsustainable situation. And in all honesty, sure, it’s easy for any of us to sit back and say that we’d dump Cabrera if we were in Harris’ role. Ain’t that easy in the reality of it. We see the value of freeing up the roster spot and don’t care about the sunk cost. Who knows what they project for revenue potential with vs without Cabrera. Heck, that might not even be the deciding factor. The way I see it, unless he is actually removed from the roster, he is on it for 2023 as a part time DH. Harris is going to need to build a 25 man roster around the 26th man Cabrera. And you hate for the guy to get injured, but any time spent on the injured list probably helps the Tigers in that roster maintenance aspect.
  20. I’d leave Jim Schmakel alone. Everyone else might be wise to limit their personal effects around the office.
  21. This game reminds me I was scoreless through 14 grades. Sigh…..
  22. Dealing with all of the throws from Baez had to have helped his glovework.
  23. What if they try Torkelson at 3B and Haase at 1B?
  24. What else can we complain about? Soto is done blowing saves for now.
  25. We're all a little closer to retirement. That's positive, right?
